Dan "Artosis" Stemkoski, Nick "Tasteless" Plott, Sean "Day[9]" Plott and JP "itsmeJP" McDaniel will be the hosts of the nearing Global Battle.net Invitational at BlizzCon 2011 this weekend.

High class competition and cutting edge strategies await as top tier players from all over the world have been invited based on their performance in previous tournaments.

The 16 players will attempt to go through a double elimination bracket to grab the first place prize of $50,000 USD. Second place will fly home with $25,000 USD and third place with $10,000.

The map pool will feature the newly introduced ladder map Abyssal Caverns. The 2011 Global Battle.net Invitational will be the first major tournament where players will duke it out on the Lunar tileset four-player map. The other maps in the pool include Xel'Naga Caverns, Shakuras Plateau, The Shattered Temple, Antiga Shipyard and Abyssal Caverns.

The tournament kicks off at 21:00 CET on Friday, October 21 with the grand final scheduled at 01:00 CET on Sunday, October 23.
