NaDa, NesTea and MMA to share a group in GSL October
The group ceremony for GSL October is over and the lots have been drawn. Take a peek at how events developed and who will play whom in the coming weeks.
Right after MVP and TOP took their respective places in groups A and H, Polt stepped in to choose a group and an opponent. The ex-Prime champion hung his name-plate under the letter G, saying that now he has the chance to face TOP again, a TvT rivalry that started at GSL Super (won by Polt) and continued in GSL August (won by TOP).
Another interesting moment came with July's turn. The God of War did not hesitate a single second before picking HongUn. When asked about his choice, however, he revealed that he actually wanted to pick MMA but it was way too early to meet him in the Ro32. And since MMA eventually got picked into group C, both him and July will have to go far into the tournament to play each other.
A curious situation occurred when Jinro stepped forth in lieu of HuK to make his pick. The Swede snatched a few names and wondered a bit until he slapped Supernova's plate on the board, but just as the hosts were about to talk to the oGs terran, Jinro went in for a name change, insisting to switch the names. The Koreans hosts intervened saying he is not allowed to do that, but Jinro's stubborness won him an exception and Supernova's name got switched with Virus'. In the end, the only foreigner in the GSL ended up with a relatively easy group of him, Virus, ASD and Zenio.
As the ceremony finally reached its end, the eight groups looked like that:
Code S October Groups
Group AGroup BGroup CGroup D
MVP Ryung Keen HuK
Ensnare MarineKing Nada Virus
Clide Puzzle MMA ASD
Noblesse Bomber NesTea Zenio
Group EGroup FGroup GGroup H
July Genius Polt TOP
HongUn Happy Killer Coca
Ganzi Leenock DongRaeGu Supernova
Losira Jjakji Taeja Alive
Having in mind the format of GSL, there are a lot of rivalries to be possibly rekindled come the elimination bracket. Apart from a potential TOP vs Polt rematch, MVP's placement in group A might very well match him against MarineKingPrime (a player who he has defeated twice at GSL grand final venues) and/or Bomber, a terran who beat him in Code A May's final match.
MMA's pick not only completed the group of death but also guaranteed him a rematch against three-times champion NesTea. MMA already beat NesTea in the previous season so the zerg mastermind will be craving a payback.
GSL October starts this Monday, right after the GSL All-stars weekend. Don't forget to tune in to see how the groups develop or catch our battle reports if you miss the action!
