Epic Poker League Pro/Am Winners and Main Event Launches
The first ever Epic Poker League Pro/Am qualifying event was held at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. All nine final table players won at least their $20,000 Main Event seat and the right to play in the exclusive first Epic Poker League. 190 starters played through the weekend with 29-year-old poker pro Steve O'Dwyer coming out on top. Joining him in the EPL main event are Micah Raskin, Brandon Meyers, Clifford Waite, George Long, Dan Fleyshman and Jeremiah DeGreef. Andy Bloch was the only qualifying pro already with a tour card that the others hope to eventually earn.
The official Epic Poker League began Tuesday at noon. The first $20,000 buy-in tournament in the series has $400,000 in added money. It is being played No-Limit 6-Max format and began with 126 players out of the 252 eligible to play the event.
Commissioner Annie Duke takes the microphone to welcome the players to the inaugural Epic Poker League Main Event. After some tournament instructions from Tournament Director Matt Savage, Palms owner George Maloof gives the "shuffle up and deal" command.
George Lind, Michael Mizrachi, Mike Watson, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Joseph "subiime" Cheong, Phil Laak, Jonathan Little, Scott Clements and William Reynolds were early eliminations as the field approached 100 players left after the first several hours of play.
