After a break of almost three weeks, the Mobile Legends Professional League in Singapore returned for one final weekend of action, as the six remaining teams fought through the Season 7 playoffs. On day one, Friday, June 14th, we would see four series in total, starting with two upper bracket matches which would see the losing teams enter two lower bracket elimination matches, respectively. For the upper bracket, it was not much of a contest for the two grand finalists of Season 6, as they dominated their opponents and marched through to an upper bracket final appearance.
It’s over in a Flash
With best-of-three series for the opening day, teams would need to quickly find their footing and take control of the games – and that is what Team Flash did. Although it was a little slow for them to find objectives at first, pickoffs were no problem for the reigning champions, as they managed to tear down the Asteris defenses and take a swift 2-0 victory. The win sends NIP Flash into the upper bracket finals, while the qualifier hopefuls will fight for their tournament lives later in the day.
RSG avert disaster
Going into the second series, it was an absolute epic brawl between two teams that looked to be at the top of their game. Bleed Esports were the ones who came out on top during the Regular Season, but RSG Singapore was hungry to get back to their MPL SG winning ways – which made for a spectacle. It was over half an hour in the first game, with Lord dances, huge back-and-forth swings, and Chua Jun “yaawn” Xiang's Fanny executing assassinations. However, RSG managed to hold on, with CS’s Roger even securing a MANIAC, as they went up by one. The next game was textbook by RSG, as they capitalised on a BLD which seemed to have the wind knocked out of their sails – with a 12-minute win and a 2-0 series victory.
With that, the upper bracket series for day one at the MPL SG Season 7 playoffs came to an end, but now we would be looking to the lower bracket for the remainder of the day. With two elimination series coming up later today, it will be the end of the road for two teams. EVIL and Asteris will be the first two on the chopping block before Bleed and Vanguard Esports close out the day. For NIP Flash and RSG SG, an upper bracket finals is set, as the two grand finalists from Season 6 will battle it out to guarantee themselves a top 2 finish.
