S-Tier Characters

The S-tier consists of the strongest characters in Destiny: Rising. They are powerful, versatile, and effective across nearly every mode. If you get these characters you should definitely prioritize leveling and building them, as they can carry your team easily.

Estela

Estela is a long-range Solar damage dealer. She uses a Pulse Rifle and Machine Gun, and has consistent ranged output and adaptability. She does not need heavy support while attacking which makes her one of the most reliable offensive picks. Because of her balance of range, damage, and consistency, she is easily a S-tier character.

Jolder

Jolder is a Void frontline tank and is a durable close-range defender. He uses a Submachine Gun and Sword, and is excellent in absorbing damage, protecting your teammates, and maintaining control in battles. His defensive durability helps your team to survive for longer. Because of his frontline reliability, Jolder is one of the best defenders in the game.

Maru

Maru is one of the most versatile S-tier heroes and you can use him in both offensive and defensive situations. You can also easily use him in a variety of team compositions. Because of this flexibility you should consider it a must to use him in your primary team composition.

Tan-2

Tan-2 is a long-range Solar support hero and uses a Scout Rifle and Sniper Rifle. His toolkit boosts team efficiency while providing precise ranged damage. He has excellent offensive abilities and you can rely on him for continuous firing in tricky situations.

Umeko

Umeko is a long-range Void support character and uses a Scout Rifle and Sniper Rifle. She excels at combining ally support with solid ranged damage. This makes her very flexible and easily reliable. She is not as strong as Estela in offense, but she can provide sustained help to your teammates while still threatening your enemies. Because of this flexibility she deserves to be in the S-Tier.

Wolf

Wolf is a close-range Solar attacker and uses an Auto Rifle and Grenade Launcher. He has a very aggressive playstyle and is great at dealing consistent damage. This makes him deadly for your enemies in long fights. Because of this reliability he is one of the most valuable offensive picks.

A-Tier Characters

A-tier characters are strong and dependable, but they lack the all-round dominance of the S-tier heroes. They can still perform extremely well in the right circumstances and are worth building if you have them.

Finnala

Finnala is a defensive Solar character and uses an Auto Rifle and Sword. She is a frontline defender but is not as durable as Jolder. In short fights she can deal decent damage, but in long fights she is not as consistent.

Gwynn

Gwynn is a close-range Void attacker and uses a Sidearm and Shotgun. She is a very aggressive attacker and can deal huge damage bursts in close range. But she is not as effective as other attackers like Estela in long range combat. Since you can use her only in specific situations, she should not be your first pick but still a good option if you don’t have better attackers.

Xuan Wei

Xuan Wei is a close-range Arc attacker and uses a Fusion Rifle and Shotgun. He is great in offensive roles but is not as effective as the higher-tier attackers. You can use him very well in fast-paced fights and he is also excellent in burst damage, but when your enemy is a bit tougher than usual he can be a bit inconsistent.

B-Tier Characters

B-tier characters are average performers. You can try them out if you are still building your roster, but they are often overshadowed by stronger alternatives.

Ning Fei

Ning Fei is a close-range Arc attacker and uses a Submachine Gun and Auto Crossbow. He can provide strong offensive bursts but does not have enough durability and consistency. If your enemy is considerably tough, his performance is not at all satisfactory and you will find it very hard to use him for longer fights.

Attal

Attal is a medium-range Arc support hero and uses a Hand Cannon and Linear Fusion Rifle. He has some supportive abilities but they are very weak compared to stronger supports like Tan-2 or Umeko. You can use him for utility but for tougher fights you will not get enough firepower. Because of this he is still considered usable, but you should try to avoid using him as much as possible.

C-Tier Characters

C-tier characters are the weakest in Destiny: Rising. You can use them in very specific cases, but they generally cannot compete with higher-tier heroes in important fights.

Ikora

Ikora is a medium-range Void attacker and uses a Light Grenade Launcher and Rocket Launcher. She has very weak performance in fights because her damage is inconsistent. Also, her toolkit gives you very low utility or survivability and you should definitely choose a higher-tier character.

Kabr

Kabr is a long-range Arc defender and uses a Pulse Rifle and Machine Gun. However, his kit is very weak and impactless if you compare him with Jolder or even Finnala. His contributions are very minor compared to more reliable frontline or utility heroes. Because of that his placement in the C-Tier is very justified.
