Summary

  • The TFT BoomBot comp in Set 14 is built around the flexible BoomBot trait, allowing players to easily activate its bonuses and buff their damage.
  • The BoomBot trait in TFT fires missiles every time time 400 damage is dealt, bringing additional damage to enemies.
  • The faster players can dish out 400 damage, the more missiles are launched, which makes BoomBot comps great when slotted with high-damage carry comps.

Ready for some explosive fun in CyberCity? Set 14 of Teamfight Tactics (TFT) brings colorful traits and synergies on the board for exciting team comps and strategies. BoomBot is definitely a flashy trait with a lot of flexibility. Here’s how you can play a TFT BoomBot comp and this trait’s units.

How Does The BoomBot Trait Work?

The BoomBot trait in TFT rewards players better the stronger their champions are. For every 400 damage dealt by your TFT BoomBot comp, a missile will fire towards nearby enemy champions. The missile’s damage scales based on the current trait bonus level.

So, if you have:

  • 2 BoomBots on the board: One missile will deal 150 magic damage
  • 4 BoomBots on the board: One missile will deal 150 magic damage
  • 6 BoomBots on the board: Two missiles will deal 225 magic damage each

Every point of damage you deal in combat counts toward the 400 damage requirement to fire a BoomBot missile. Additionally, 8% of the damage taken counts toward it as well.

So, dealing 400 damage or taking 5000 damage in one instance will both give you a missile or two. You just accumulate enough damage dealt and taken to build up 400, and that powers your missiles throughout the game.

BoomBot Champions and Bonus Activation

Interestingly, BoomBot is a trait that requires six champions with it on the board to unlock its maximum trait bonus. Yet, there are only 5 champions that hold this trait originally.

Here are their costs and other traits:

  • Kog’Maw (1g)  – Rapidfire
  • Skarner (2g) – Vanguard
  • Fiddlesticks (3g) – Techie
  • Cho’Gath (4g) – Bruiser
  • Urgot (5g) – Executioner

To activate the 6-champion bonus, players would need a BoomBot emblem on a non-BoomBot champion. It’s possible, but it’s rather unpopular and comparatively weak in the current meta.

TFT BoomBot Comp Examples

However, the BoomBot trait bonus is still a good advantage in teams with good backline carries. So, players prefer a TFT BoomBot comp that completes 4 BoomBots mixed with carries that synergize with their other traits. Or, if they’re lucky, they can still force 6 BoomBot, given that they have a strong and 3-starred carry.

Here are some good BoomBot comp examples that you can try:

Bruiser Fiddlesticks

Gives a strong Bruiser frontline to tank a lot of damage while Fiddlesticks and Urgot act as carries.

  • Team : Fiddlesticks (3-star), Cho’Gath, Urgot, Mordekaiser (3-star), Gragas (3-star), Kobuko, Darius, Skarner
  • Synergies: 6 Bruiser, 4 BoomBot, 1 Divinicorp, 2 Techie
  • Strategy: Level 7 Slow Roll
  • Fiddlesticks Core Items: Archangel’s Staff, Archangel’s Staff, and Bruiser Emblem
  • Can force 6 BoomBot?: Yes, but needs BoomBot Emblem on Kobuko and a Kog’Maw at Level 9

Kog’Maw BoomBot

Kog’Maw teams up with Zeri to quickly fill up the 400 damage requirement through rapid fire. A Vanguard or Bruiser+Vanguard frontline tanks the damage.

  • Team: Kog’Maw (3-star), Zeri, Fiddlesticks, Skarner (3-star), Cho’Gath, Rhaast (3-star), Gragas (or Braum + Leona)
  • Synergies: 4 BoomBots, 4 Vanguard (or 2 Vanguard + 2 Bruiser), 1 Divinicorp, 2 Rapidfire
  • Strategy: Level 5 Slow Roll
  • Kog’Maw Core Items: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Runaan’s Hurricane, Runaan’s Hurricane (or Deathblade)
  • Zeri Core Items: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Infinity Edge
  • Can force 6 BoomBot?: Yes, but needs Urgot at Level 8/9 and BoomBot Emblem on Zeri.

Some other champions and traits that work with a TFT BoomBot comp are:

  • Miss Fortune + Syndicate
  • Twisted Fate + Syndicate
  • Vex + Executioner

Conclusion

While bigger traits like Anima Squad and Nitro dominate the current Set 14 meta, BoomBot shines in its own way. It’s a flexible option that gives players additional damage sources even in the early game and can fit together with various other traits.

Building a TFT BoomBot comp is pretty easy due to the rarity of it being played and the low gold cost of its carries. With slow roll strategies, 3-starring your low costs and finally adding Urgot, Garen, or Kobuko can completely change the game. What do you think about this BoomBot beginner guide?
