Teamfight Tactics Patch 14.4 Adjusts Over 40 Units, Traits, and Augments

Teamfight Tactics Patch 14.4 delivers sweeping balance updates that reshape the Remix Rumble meta. Riot Games introduced significant buffs to underused traits and units like Techie, Zeri, and Golden Ox. At the same time, key nerfs targeted dominant units such as Vex, Twist of Fate, and Bran. Item generation and loot pacing also changed, pushing players to adapt their early-game strategies. Here’s a full breakdown of the patch’s biggest shifts.
Zeri, Techie, and Misfortune Gain Strength in Teamfight Tactics Patch 14.4
Zeri received a +5 attack damage boost and a +0.5 increase to her attack speed. Since she scales with speed-based items, this makes her one of the most threatening four-cost carries available. Players who favor vertical Slayer or Marksman builds now have better support, as both emblems gained additional power. The Slayer emblem’s healing bonus rose to 33%, while the Marksman emblem now shreds more armor.
Techie comps also received meaningful improvements. Riot increased AP scaling at both 6 and 8-unit thresholds. Additionally, four-piece Laser damage numbers climbed across all tiers. Players can now field Techie bots more confidently, especially with frontline help from champions like Scarnner and Shyvana—both of whom received buffs this patch.
Misfortune also became more viable after receiving +3 AD and a critical bug fix. This may push her back into the spotlight, especially in comps using the Dynamo or Marksman emblems.
Riot Tones Down Vex, Twist of Fate, and Bran
Vex lost primary spell damage at one and two-star levels. Combined with the Blue Battery III nerf, her effectiveness dropped. She remains a strong option when supported by multiple Dinor units, but players may need to commit deeper into the trait to see results.
Twist of Fate saw reductions to empowered card damage. This change directly affects comps that relied on fast AP burst with items like Rageblade and Gunblade. Bran’s cast timing and mana mechanics were reworked as well, aiming for more consistent but slower casts. These adjustments lower the overall tempo of his spell rotations.
Other notable adjustments include Nico’s mana bump and Kabuko’s three-star fix. While small, they contribute to better trait and unit balance.
Traits and Items Adjusted Across the Board
Patch 14.4 introduced widespread trait tuning. Golden Ox gained more base damage amplification at 4 and 6 units, rewarding players who fully commit. Cipher offers stronger post-cash-out scaling at four and five, granting 5% more AD and AP. Dinor bonuses at levels 5, 6, and 7 also increased, allowing more flexible options for reroll and vertical setups.
Items received notable tweaks. Manazane lost 10 points across starting mana, AS, and AD, reducing its synergy with burst-focused casters. Meanwhile, emblem improvements help players round out boards with stronger effects:
Bastion Emblem: AP conversion rose to 20%
Dynamo Emblem: Mana-spent amp improved to 1.5
Slayer Emblem: Healing increased by 8%
Marksman Emblem: Armor shred improved by 1%
These changes provide more value to boards built around specific synergies rather than flexing into whatever appears strongest.
System Updates and Augment Reworks Shift Game Flow
Riot reduced overall loot generation across PvE rounds. Players no longer receive extra components from Scuttle Puddle and Crab Rave hacks. These adjustments decrease item oversaturation and favor boards built around fewer, well-equipped units. Now, solo-carry comps have more room to succeed, while multi-carry setups face tougher decisions.
One of the more interesting changes came with the Golem Armory. The Gold Generator Golem no longer appears. Instead, players will encounter the new RNG Golem, who carries a Radiant item, an emblem, and an artifact. Choosing this option introduces volatility, but it might help salvage a weak board or push for a first-place finish when behind.
Many augments were also reworked. Here are some major examples:
Blue Battery III: AP bonus dropped from 15 to 5
10,000 IQ: Rewards improved to include Ekko and Yuumi plus an anvil
Spirit Link: HP regen dropped by 1%
Wise Spending: XP rate heavily reduced, now requiring four gold for three XP
Several econ-based augments like Cybernetic Implants and Shopping Spree also received tuning. These nerfs align with the reduced loot model and limit how easily players can generate early spikes.
Comps to Watch After Teamfight Tactics Patch 14.4
Zeri comps—especially those running Marksman or Slayer—are primed to rise in popularity. With increased speed and more reliable item scaling, Zeri can serve as a primary or secondary carry. Techie reroll builds also benefit from patch changes, thanks to increased AP scaling and stronger lasers.
Misfortune gains renewed viability due to both direct buffs and improved emblem compatibility. Players can now revisit builds that revolve around her cast timing and area-of-effect damage.
On the other hand, Vex, Twist of Fate, and Bran should see reduced play. Each received targeted nerfs, and the patch’s loot adjustments make it harder to support multiple carries without sacrifices.
