Paradox Drive (set code B3a) is the fourth themed booster pack of the B Series and the seventh B Series expansion overall in Pokémon TCG Pocket. Its Japanese name is 進撃パラドックス (Advancing Paradox), and the expansion has been released simultaneously across all supported regions.
The set introduces two distinct card subtypes that are brand new to Pokémon TCG Pocket — Ancient and Future — mirroring the mechanics first seen in the physical Scarlet & Violet — Paradox Rift TCG expansion. Players can build decks that synergize specifically around these two subtypes, creating new competitive archetypes in the game.
The Star Cards: Koraidon ex & Miraidon ex
The undisputed headliners of Paradox Drive are the Legendary Pokémon Koraidon ex and Miraidon ex.
Koraidon ex (Fighting-type, Double Rare):
HP: 150
Ability — Legendary Drive: Once per turn, when you put Koraidon ex from your hand onto your Bench, you may switch it with your Active Pokémon and move all Energy in play to it.
Attack — World Wrecker: 110 damage. Discard the top card of your deck.
Weakness: Psychic | Retreat Cost: 2 Colorless
Miraidon ex (Lightning-type, Double Rare):
HP: 140
Ability — Legendary Drive: Same switching mechanic as Koraidon ex.
Attack — Hadron Ray: 20+ damage, doing 20 more for each Lightning Energy attached.
Weakness: Fighting | Retreat Cost: 2 Colorless
Both Legendaries share the “Legendary Drive” ability, making them incredibly powerful entry plays when brought off the Bench.

Paradox Drive introduces a fundamental split in deck-building strategy:
Ancient Pokémon include Koraidon ex, Raging Bolt, Scream Tail, Garganacl, and Flutter Mane ex — all drawing from the prehistoric-themed Paradox Pokémon of Pokémon Scarlet.
Future Pokémon include Miraidon ex, Iron Bundle ex, Iron Boulder, and Iron Hands — the futuristic mechanical variants from Pokémon Violet.
Professor Sada supports Ancient decks with Energy acceleration, while Professor Turo provides Future deck utility.
The Booster Energy Capsules are dedicated Tools for each archetype — Ancient gets a massive +40 HP boost, while Future gets +20 attack damage.
These two archetypes are designed to work best when kept within their subtype, rewarding mono-archetype deck building.
Notable Standout Mechanics
Flutter Mane ex is especially powerful in competitive play — its Spellbinding Start attack not only deals 70 damage but completely locks the opponent out of using any Trainer cards on their next turn, on its very first attack after entering play.
Garganacl brings passive healing to the table with its Blessed Salt ability, which heals 10 damage from every Pokémon on your side of the field during each Pokémon Checkup phase — a unique form of board-wide sustain new to TCG Pocket.
Raging Bolt is perhaps the most high-risk, high-reward card in the set: its Baneful Boom attack automatically Knocks Out the opponent’s Active Pokémon, but at the cost of discarding all Energy attached to itself.
Post-Launch Events
The Pokémon Company has confirmed a series of in-game events tied to the Paradox Drive launch:
Paradox Drive Emblem Event (late May – early June): Compete in battles to earn new emblems, Shinedust, and other rewards.
Community Week (early June): Trade and share cards to earn Trade Hourglasses, accessories, and more.
Ceruledge ex Drop Event (mid–late June): Take on special solo battles to obtain B Series Promo Packs Vol. 9.
Wonder Pick Event (mid–late June): Promo cards featuring Sableye and Floragato will appear in Wonder Picks.
A dedicated event shop ticket system will also be active, allowing players to exchange tickets for a promo card directly from the Shop.
Where Paradox Drive Fits in the Bigger Picture
Paradox Drive is positioned as the twentieth expansion in Pokémon TCG Pocket overall. It follows Pulsing Aura in the B Series timeline, and the full B Series now reads: Mega Rising → Crimson Blaze → Fantastical Parade → Paldean Wonders → Mega Shine → Pulsing Aura → Paradox Drive. The introduction of Ancient and Future mechanics signals that the game is increasingly pulling from the full breadth of the Scarlet and Violet era of Pokémon, setting the stage for even deeper Paldea-based content going forward
