The next big addition to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has been revealed as a seven-star Tera Raid event featuring a Steel Tera Type Metagross. This event will run twice: first from May 9–11, and again from May 16–18. Like Tyranitar and Dragonite before it, Metagross joins the roster of pseudo-legendary raid bosses. Given the absence of its Clear Body ability, this battle may be more manageable than expected.

Simultaneously, Pokémon TCG Pocket has launched another round of its Wonder Pickics sneak peek campaign. Running until May 12, players have a chance to preview one card before making their pick, improving the odds slightly from 20% to 25%. While some players remain unsure about how to trigger the preview, the random nature of this mechanic adds a small strategic edge.

Black Bolt and White Flare Set Reveal

The new Japanese Pokémon TCG expansion, titled Black Bolt and White Flare, has been officially revealed and is scheduled to launch on June 6, 2025. Centered on the Unova region, this set mirrors Pokémon 151 by including all 156 Pokémon from the Black and White games. The dual expansions are labeled SB11B (Black Bolt) and SB11W (White Flare) under the Scarlet & Violet era.

The set features returning artwork styles, including the Black & White era holo foil. Every Pokémon in the set will have either an Art Rare or Special Art Rare version, which makes it a massive collection challenge. Notably, reprinted cards include Professor Juniper’s Research, Air Balloon, Prism Energy, Energy Retrieval, and Electivire with Dynomotor.

Newly revealed cards include:

  • Zekrom

  • Kyurem

  • Serperior

  • Servine

  • Snivy

  • Victini

  • Reshiram

  • Hilda (Trainer Supporter)

Due to the lack of booster boxes, acquiring all cards will likely require Elite Trainer Boxes or special bundles. Scalping concerns are already mounting due to the rarity and scope of the set.

Nintendo Switch 2: Lawsuits and Controller Support

Nintendo has filed a lawsuit against Genki, a company that previously showcased a Nintendo Switch 2 model at a tech event. Allegedly, this model contained design leaks that were not yet publicly confirmed. The lawsuit also reveals that Nintendo began formal hardware development for the Switch 2 as early as 2019—just two years after the original Switch’s launch.

In a separate update, Nintendo confirmed the Switch 2 will support up to eight wireless controllers simultaneously, matching the original Switch’s capacity. The Nintendo Today app showcased LED indicators for each controller, adding some visual enhancements to multiplayer setups.

Pokémon Legends ZA DLC Rumors and Release Speculation

A 4chan post claims that Pokémon Legends ZA will receive a free update in May 2026. While the source is unverified and speculative, it includes several claims:

  • Five new Mega Evolutions, including one for Bouffalant

  • Thirty returning Pokémon

  • Three new postgame missions

  • A new character named Marcus

  • Roughly 3 hours of playtime

These additions seem too substantial for a free update. Historically, Legends: Arceus only received minor updates like mass outbreak spawns. Introducing five new Mega Evolutions may indicate that this is a paid DLC instead, especially if brand-new forms are involved.

The rumor also raises logistical questions. If Legends ZA remains locked to the city of Lumiose, how would the additional 30 Pokémon fit? The update might introduce a new wild zone or unlock previously inaccessible areas.

With Generation 10 expected to be revealed in February 2026 and a potential release in November 2026, timing will be crucial. If the update launches in May, it must not overshadow Gen 10’s promotion cycle. While the idea of postgame Mega Evolution missions is appealing, their inclusion in a free update remains questionable.
