Apex Legends Season 29 Split 2 launches on June 23, 2026, and it is shaping up to be one of the more packed mid-season updates the game has seen in a while. There are confirmed ranked matchmaking experiments already running, nerfs for Axle that have partially already gone live, buffs rumored for two fan-favorite Legends, a major event currently live in-game, and leak-based chatter about a celebrity collaboration arriving alongside Split 2.

System LayerLive Updates & Confirmed ParametersMobile Strategy & Meta Impact

Ranked Queue

(Diamond & Above)

Forced Solo Queue: Premade duos or three-stacks are disabled for Diamond, Master, and Predator tiers.

• Everyone in high brackets must queue completely alone.

Adapt to Comms: Solo grinds are now a level playing field. You can no longer rely on a hyper-coordinated three-stack to boost placement points.

Axle Nerfs

(Live & Upcoming)

Live Changes: Nitro Gate max count slashed from 3 ➔ 2; health dropped from 150 ➔ 100 HP.

Split 2 Leaks: Kickstart Ult stun cut in half (1.5s ➔ 0.75s); lower launch power.

Pace Adjustments: Axle remains a high-velocity Skirmisher, but her drone is shifting from a hard lockdown tool to an informational disruption device.

Legend Buffs

(Under Review)

Pathfinder & Ballistic: Targeted for performance enhancements based on dev AMA notes and extracted icons.

• Wraiths’ passive alerts are also seeing tuning.

Track the Mobility: If Pathfinder’s grapple timings loosen up, mid-range skirmishes on Broken Moon and Storm Point will widen out considerably.

Power Trip Event

(Ends June 23)

• Featuring the 3-tier evolution Ash Prestige Skin.

Wildcard Mode: Activates global modifiers like Sneak Shadow (crouching cloaks you) or unlimited ammo.

Claim Free Packs: Clear out the remaining event reward tracks to claim your 2 free event packs before the mid-season split cuts off access.

Battle Pass

(Split 2 Track)

Premium Rewards: Leaked data points to a major Horizon legendary skin blueprint.

Tier 60 Mastery: Features a custom Reactive RE-45 weapon wrap.

Hold Your AC Coins: If you regularly utilize the RE-45 as a secondary close-range laser, Split 2’s premium reward track holds high collector value.

Celebrity Collab

(Upcoming Drop)

Launch Window: Expected June 23–24.

• Teasers feature customized content from Post Malone and Trippie Redd.

Watch the Shop: This event lands as a direct celebrity integration package, introducing unique thematic bundles, voice clips, and custom visuals.

This is not a reinvention of Apex. It is Respawn tightening the screws on what they already shipped while setting up what comes next. If you play ranked, run Axle, main Pathfinder or Ballistic, or you just want to know what the Battle Pass looks like, here is what you need to know before June 23.

Axle Is Getting Nerfed. Again. Here Are the Numbers

Respawn wasted no time adjusting Axle, the new Skirmisher Legend who launched with Season 29 Overclocked on May 5, 2026. Her kit centers on Nitro Gate (a speed-boosting tactical slide gate) and Kickstart (an ultimate that launches a homing drone that stuns, highlights, and launches enemies).

A confirmed hotfix on May 29, 2026 already reduced Nitro Gate’s max in-world gate count from 3 to 2, and dropped the gate health from 150 to 100 HP. Those changes are live right now.

But the bigger nerfs may be coming with Split 2 itself. According to leaked data circulating in the community, Respawn is targeting Axle’s Kickstart ultimate with these potential changes:

  • Stun duration reduced from 1.5 seconds to 0.75 seconds

  • Highlight duration reduced from 2.5 seconds to 2 seconds

  • Maximum launch strength reduced from 850 to 750

These are unconfirmed leak values, not official patch notes. That said, the stun duration cut is the one to watch. Halving crowd control effects changes how opponents experience the ability on a fundamental level. Players have always been more frustrated by losing control than losing HP, and cutting stun time in half is a direct answer to that complaint. The launch strength reduction also hints that Respawn sees Axle’s mobility as the core balancing problem, not the damage numbers.

If these Split 2 nerfs do ship, Axle players will want to rethink how they initiate fights. Kickstart will still be usable for positioning and disruption, but it will be far less reliable as a pure lockdown tool.

Ballistic and Pathfinder Buffs Are Both on the Table

On the upside for players who enjoy movement and weapon-heavy play, two Legends may be getting stronger in Split 2.

Ballistic buff hints have turned up in the game files, with data miners finding new icons tied to his kit. Ballistic has always been one of the most awkward Legends in the game to balance. His sling weapon, his ultimate’s ability to supercharge a full squad’s weapons, and his passive kit are all built around premium coordination. When his numbers are right, he is oppressive. When they are off even slightly, nobody touches him. No specific buff values have been officially confirmed yet.

Pathfinder buff discussion is also active. Earlier in Season 29, Respawn developers commented in an AMA that buffs for Pathfinder were being explored, alongside Wraith passive adjustments. A YouTube breakdown of upcoming Split 2 content noted that “Pathfinder may be receiving enhancement when the June 23rd update arrives”. Nothing is confirmed with numbers, but the developer hint plus the file activity makes this more credible than a pure rumor.

Both of these are worth watching. Apex plays better when movement and weapon-based legends are viable. If Ballistic gets a meaningful number bump and Pathfinder’s grapple gets stronger, the mid-range gunfight meta that has defined Season 29 could open up considerably.

Ranked Is Going Solo Queue at Diamond and Above

This is the change that is already generating the most player debate, and it is confirmed by Respawn themselves.

Starting later in Season 29, all players ranked Diamond and above will be forced into solo queue for Ranked. Pre-made squads will not be allowed at those rank tiers. Respawn’s stated goal is to reduce hard carries through the top end of ranked play, and to create lobbies where skill levels are more evenly matched at the highest brackets.

A limited trial of solo queue matchmaking logic ran from early May through the split window. According to Respawn’s own matchmaking update post on June 7, 2026, the early data was positive enough that they already implemented the underlying skill adjustment globally on May 7 as part of standard ranked and unranked matchmaking. The full forced solo queue at Diamond and above is the next phase of that experiment.

Here is what this actually means for players:

  • If you are Diamond, Masters, or Predator, you will no longer be able to load into ranked with your premade friends. You can still communicate via in-game chat with random teammates, but the lobby is yours alone.

  • The matchmaking logic will also match solo queue players against slightly lower-skilled opponents to offset the inherent disadvantage of playing against coordinated squads, applying across all ranks including unranked trios.

  • You can still only queue with teammates within one ranked tier of your own rank.

If you have been boosting through Diamond with a coordinated duo or trio, that window is closing. On the flip side, if you have been grinding solo and getting stomped by coordinated teams, Respawn’s data suggests the adjusted matchmaking is already improving the experience.

The Power Trip Event Is Live Now. Ends June 23.

Alongside Split 2 prep, the Power Trip event is currently running in Apex Legends from June 2 to June 23. This event brings:

  • The Ash Prestige Skin, a three-tier unlockable with a Mythic Finisher and Skydive Trail as the headline cosmetic

  • Legendary skins for Octane, Lifeline, Wraith, Fuse, and more

  • A limited-time Wildcard mode with Global Effects, random match-wide mechanics that kick in at rounds 1, 2, and 4

The Global Effects are the most chaotic part. They include mechanics like Sneak Shadow (crouching makes you invisible), Unlimited AmmoInfinite GrenadesKnock Adrenaline (kills boost movement speed), and High-Speed Slide. These effects force every player in the lobby to adapt on the fly, which makes your usual positioning and loadout choices feel unreliable in the best possible way.

The event runs 24 items plus the Ash Prestige skin, and you will receive two free event packs while it is active. If the Prestige skin is on your list, you have until June 23 to get it before Split 2 flips the content track.

Split 2 Battle Pass: What the Leaks Say

The leaked details for the Split 2 Battle Pass point to a Horizon skin and a Reactive RE-45 as the premium tier rewards. These are not confirmed by Respawn, but they have been circulating across multiple community sources.

The RE-45 has quietly had one of the best seasonal upgrades in Apex. After being designated an elite weapon, it became a legitimate short-range threat that holds its own in close engagements. A reactive skin for it makes real sense given where the gun sits in the current meta.

As for the Horizon skin, that lines up with Respawn’s recent pattern of featuring Legends who are not currently dominating the meta in cosmetic slots, keeping them relevant to collectors even during quieter patches.

A Celebrity Collab Is Rumored for Split 2. Here Is What We Know.

Multiple leakers and community aggregators have suggested a collaboration event is planned to launch around June 23–24 alongside Split 2. The rumor distinguishes this from a franchise crossover like the earlier Gundam collab, suggesting celebrity involvement is on the table again.

This is not a guess from nowhere. In late May 2026, Post Malone and Trippie Red content was directly teased for Apex Legends via a video posted on X. The Apex Legends community is already tracking this one hard. Whether it shows up as skins, voice lines, cosmetic bundles, or something more involved is still unknown.

Respawn has not made an official announcement as of June 15, 2026. Treat this as a credible rumor, not a confirmed event.
