Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 is coming to an end on May 24th. It’s been a mixed season, with the Avatar collaboration being the biggest highlight. As we approach the new season, it’s time to look back at the highlights of Season 2. Even LEGO Fortnite received a much-needed update after a long period of no content at all. In this post, we’ll relive Season 2 from a battle royale perspective and highlight the best items introduced this season.

Epic focused on Greek POIs and Medallions.

Among the new POIs, the Underworld and Mount Olympus were the most populated locations at the end of Fortnite Season 2. Both locations had completely new designs, and the medallions were extremely powerful. These medallions gave players a movement boost along with some gameplay benefits. Unlike previous seasons, these medallions were finally worth revealing player location details as a compromise. In Season 1, players did not keep the medallions because compromising their location was not worth the extra 50 shield the medallion offered.

Mobility Reached a New Level in Season 2.

Although the new season didn’t introduce any cars or vehicles, the Avatar collaboration brought mythic items that dominated the Fortnite island. The overpowered “Airbender” mythic stood out among them. This item allowed players to rotate, escape fights, and push enemy players with ease. As expected, the mythic remained in the game for roughly a month before its removal. Hopefully, Fortnite will introduce something similar in Season 3, providing at least the same excitement levels for mobility.

The Wings of Icarus also featured in the Greek Fortnite theme for Season 2. These wings gave players an easier way to rotate and elevated the gameplay experience to a whole new level. After its introduction, the developers instantly nerfed this item. The nerf made it harder for players to use it in fights, forcing them to use it primarily for rotations. It’ll be interesting to see what the developers plan for Season 3. Air mobility was certainly a big aspect of Season 2 and kept the game alive with different versions of it.

Top Mythic Weapons of Season 2

The Avatar collaboration introduced three exclusive mythic weapons in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2. Players could drop straight to specific parts of the map to access the Earth, Water, and Fire Benders. While the Earth and Fire Benders had a moderate impact, the Water Bender became a fan favorite throughout Season 2. With no movement errors in firing, this mythic weapon was the best addition to the game in recent history. It will remain available in-game until the season ends and will likely return only after a long time.

The Chains of Hades was another mythic weapon that slowly grew in popularity as weeks passed. Now, almost every player knows how to use it and loves the weapon. These chains pull enemies into close range and absolutely destroy them. Initially, not many players knew how to use the weapon effectively, as they had to pull enemies closer using the chain. Once everyone mastered this, the weapon started replacing shotguns. Towards the end of Season 3, the Underworld became one of the best locations to drop. Hades dropped the best medallion in the game, and access to the mythic chains was plentiful. Hopefully, Epic introduces multiple bosses for Season 3 that offer satisfying loot like the Underworld did.
