3.4 Changes and Additions

HSR Version 3.4 elevates the gameplay experience with engaging new characters, demanding game modes, and impactful system upgrades. Highlighted among the latest 3.4 update is the debut of Phainon.

Character

Explanation

Phainon

  • Phainon is a physical destruction DPS. He gains his ultimate through targeted abilities used on him (instead of energy).
  • Upon activation, he transforms into Khaslana, entering an isolated state where he unleashes devastating damage with a new set of abilities.
  • When conditions align, Phainon becomes a brokenly strong unit, obliterating enemies with overwhelming force.
  • His rigid mechanics prevent him from being universally adaptable, making him a high-risk, high-reward pick.

Archer

  • Archer is a Quantum Hunt DPS. Archer's style is all about using Skills non-stop, and his damage gets stronger with high ATK and Crit DMG.
  • He needs a lot of Skill Points to work well. He does best with teammates who either help gain Skill Points or don't use much themselves.
  • He doesn't need high SPD, just wait for buffs and SP generation provided by teammates, he can consume all SP at his turn and wait for next cycle. During the process, we can use the squad's Ults to generat SP.

Saber

  • Saber is a limited five-star Destruction Path character with the Wind element.
  • She excels as a main DPS and thrives on frequent ultimate usage for high burst damage.
  • Not only does she have high Break Damage, but she can also deal additional damage based on the length of the enemy's Break Gauge. This means that as a character of Destruction, she can clear enemies in groups and deal with single targets effectively.
  • The trait of her kit is "Core Resonance", which allow Saber use her Ulit immediatly when stack enough.

Jingliu

  • Jingliu is a Type-Ice Destruction DPS and has been reinforced in version 3.4.
  • Since Jingliu's enhancements, her skill mechanics have undergone changes. Her damage multipliers have shifted from an ATK-scaling model to an HP-scaling model, meaning her output now scales more with HP than ATK.
  • Adjustments to her HP consumption mechanism indicate that her damage now relies more heavily on CRIT Rate.

Conclusion

Remember, tier list is recommendation, not strict rules—a skilled player can dominate with even mid-tier units through smart strategy and mastery. That said, higher-ranked characters streamline progress and make challenging content far more manageable.

Honkai: Star Rail shines with skill-based combat: even top characters need tight rotations, timing, and synergy. As for the new 3.4 version, Phainon stands out as a must-pick Destruction DPS, delivering top-tier performance — definitely worth trying if you want to upgrade your team’s firepower!

T0

Meta-shaping powerhouses. They stand out in practically all game content and seamlessly fit into various team lineups. They’re absolutely worth pulling for and putting heavy resources into.

T0.5

Top-level performers with only minor drawbacks. They may require specific team configurations or a bit more skill to master, but they still deliver outstanding results.

T1

Dependable, steady choices. These characters do well in most situations, though they might struggle in certain specific scenarios or need more investment to truly excel.

T2

Characters that work in specific situations. They can perform well in niche teams or particular content, but they’re generally overshadowed by higher-tier alternatives.

T3

Their practical use is limited. These characters need substantial investment and specific team setups to be competitive.

Tags Explanation

DPS

DPS is the cornerstone of your offensive strategy, dealing heavy damage consistently throughout a battle. These characters usually boast powerful attacks and abilities that prioritize offensive stats such as ATK, Crit DMG, and Crit Rate. The entire team is built around creating favorable conditions and supporting the DPS to help them unleash their maximum damage potential.

Support

Support characters focus on providing the buffs or debuffs to the entire team or enemy. They increase the total DPS output of a team and activate their abilities while still generating SP.

Sustain

Sustain characters have their shields and healing ability. They provide possibly somrthing aside from protection and healing.
