Contents hide Is NBA 2K24 on last gen consoles? NBA 2K24 old gen and new gen differences

Wondering if NBA 2K24 is on last gen? You’ve come to the right place. This year’s game has plenty of new features and technology enhancements that will take the game to new levels. With improved graphics and a new gameplay system too, the NBA will never have felt or looked better.

With the NBA 2K24 release date almost upon is, you will need to know what console or platform you can play the game on. Next-gen consoles have taken over the gaming world with their vastly superior power and graphic capabilities, but plenty of us are still on old gen platforms.

Below, we assess if NBA 2K24 is on last gen, and the key differences between the generations.

Is NBA 2K24 on last gen consoles?

Yes, NBA 2K24 is available for last gen consoles PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms. Nintendo Switch is also considered an old gen platform. Interestingly, PC players will see the same features as old gen consoles, unlike on EA’s sports titles such as Madden 24 and EA Sports FC 24.

Some of NBA’s classic modes will still be available to old-gen player. MyCAREER, MyTeam, and the brand-new Kobe Bryant Mamba Moments mode will all be playable.

NBA 2K24 old gen and new gen differences

There are some key features in this year’s game that will feature on current-gen consoles, but not old-gen. The biggest feature available for next-gen players will be crossplay. Only fans using PS5 or Xbox Series X|S will have access to crossplay this season, starting in September. The PC version of the game will not feature crossplay.

Another key difference will be the introduction of ProPlay technology. Using real NBA footage, 2K Sports will bring unrivaled authenticity to the court to this year’s NBA video game. The on-court NBA action will look and feel better than ever before on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.

The Neighborhood (or The City) will feature across both generations. However, the generational leap will allow next-gen players the chance to explore a new environment. The new beachfront looks epic, and this is another feature old-gen players will miss out on.

There are two game modes that will only be playable on next-gen consoles too. The W and MyNBA will be exclusive to the platforms. WNBA fans will only be able to play out their career on next-gen consoles. Fans can also get their hands on the WNBA Edition of the game with Sabrina Ionescu as the cover athlete.
