Manor Lords is a bit of a slow burner as city building and management games go, which means you’ll pick up more than a few save files. Graduating from a humble cluster of tents to a bustling town, fending off bandits, and engaging in the odd medieval battle takes hours. And, as any genre fan knows, nothing quite kills the enjoyment like seeing those hours evaporate due to a mishandled save.

Knowing how to save will keep your hard-earned progress intact until your next go at playing feudal lord. We’ll walk you through how to save in Manor Lords, which is, thankfully, easy in part due to a robust autosave feature along with a manual option.

Saving manually in Manor Lords

To save manually in Manor Lords, you’ll need to access the pause menu by tapping Esc on your keyboard. From there, select Save Game among the options available. Next tap the long horizontal Save button in the top right (you can also rename the save file just above). Alternatively, you can tap Overwrite on an existing save to replace it with a new one. There’s also the option to rename previous saves to keep your save files organised.

How autosave works in Manor Lords

While nothing beats a manual save to protect your progress, Manor Lords features a robust and adjustable autosave function. Unlike many games that have a small icon to denote an autosave, Manor Lords chucks it right in your face with an overlay that covers the whole screen, so you’ll always know when the game is autosaving. To check an autosave, navigate to the Save Game menu where the top save file on the right will always be the most recent autosave.

On the right, you’ll see the option to set the autosave frequency to 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or 15 minutes, and turn off autosave if you don’t want your Ale, Regional Wealth, and Clothes production interrupted by the autosave screen.
