Space Marine 2 and co-op go hand-in-hand. Nothing beats taking on the Tyranids alongside a friend. However, when you first load in, you’re immediately thrown into the tutorial prologue with no sign of your friends nor a clear way to invite them to join your squad. We’ll walk you through how to play co-op in Space Marine 2 and get to slaying Nids with your Battle-Brothers.

How to invite or join friends in co-op lobbies

To unlock co-op lobbies and invite or join friends in Space Marine 2, you must first do the following:

  1. Complete the Rain of Terror tutorial prologue Campaign mission
  2. Reach the Battle Barge and head to the Strategium
  3. Talk to the Captain and sit through the cut scene
  4. Tap Y to bring up Edit Squad lobby menu
  5. Tap Enter to bring up your invite code then give it to your friends

First, players must complete the tutorial Campaign mission to unlock the co-op feature. It charts Titus’ final hours in the Deathwatch before he wakes up onboard an Ultramarine Battle Barge. Head for the Strategium and talk to the Captain. Sit through the cut scene. When you regain control of Titus, you’ll have access to co-op and crossplay along with the Operations PvE and Eternal War PvP modes.

Look to the top right of the screen, and you will see an Edit Squad prompt – Y on PC and Xbox, or triangle on PS5. By bringing up the menu, you can invite players by using the arrow keys (or D-pad) to navigate down to the plus signs. Tap Enter on a plus sign to bring up your respective platform’s friends list. Select a friend and they’ll receive an invite on their end to join your squad.

If your friends are on another platform or aren’t on your friends list, tap the enter key on PC (A on Xbox and X on PS5) to generate a unique alphanumerical lobby Invite Code. Share this with your friends and get them to enter the code into the Join The Squad text box. If you want to join friends, reverse the process, and enter their code into the input box to join their lobby session.

Once your friends are in the same lobby, they’ll take over from the default AI companions and join your squad. You can then play Campaign missions, Operations PvE missions, or Eternal War PvP together.
