  • To delete a save game file, head to the Load Game menu and press F with the save you want to delete selected.

Every time you log in to play Star Wars Outlaws, you’re expected to continue from your last saved point. The game uses a “rolling save” system, meaning that your save games overlap each other the further you progress through the game, though with a few options to save and load the game at different points, including autosaves and checkpoints.

How to save game in Star Wars Outlaws

You can save the game from the Star Wars Outlaws game menu at any time, except after you begin a mission. When you start a mission, you will get a checkpoint autosave and manual saves will be disabled. This is in case you fail a mission and you have to start all over again – for example, if you get caught while sneaking into a base, or get killed during a firefight.

Besides that, you can save the game at any time during open-world exploration. The game also has an autosave feature that saves the game for you after important events, after reaching checkpoints, and when you close the game.

You will see a small autosave icon in the corner of the screen whenever the game saves your progress.

The checkpoint system is there to serve as a safety net in case something goes horribly wrong, so you can reload from there and continue on. These points are usually located before major events in the game and when you begin missions, so you can rest assured there’s somewhere to fall back to in case Kay falls.

Other than that, you will see a small autosave icon in the corner of the screen whenever the game saves your progress. This includes any time when you log out to the main menu or close the game completely (except during missions, as stated).

How to load the game

The easiest way to load Star Wars Outlaws from where you left off is by selecting Resume in the main menu. This will load the last save you have in the game. You can also manually load the game with the Load Game option in the main menu or from the in-game menu. This way, you can start from the last checkpoint, which will keep a separate save file.

How to delete a save

You can delete any selected save points through the Load Game screen in the main menu. Each save point can be deleted individually by hovering over the instance and pressing F on your keyboard. Make sure you’re certain that you want to delete the save because there is no way of getting them back.

The issue of deleting saves came to light when the devs asked PS5 players to delete their games after Version 1.000.002 update. This caused a controversy, with many players feeling slighted for having to start over. However, with further optimizations coming down the line, we don’t anticipate this situation repeating itself. But if it does, you now know how to delete your save games in case you have to.
