Can you play Final Fantasy 16 side quests after the story? With over 70 side quests to choose from, we wouldn’t blame you for wanting to wrap up Final Fantasy 16’s story before switching your attention to these optional sub-plots. A huge majority of games offer a post-game experience where you’re allowed to explore the world, find collectibles, and complete unfinished quests freely.
Does Final Fantasy 16 offer something similar? We’ll walk you through whether you can play Final Fantasy 16 side quests after the story or not. We have a full list of Final Fantasy 16 quests if you want a sense of what’s on the cards, and also a list of Final Fantasy 16 bosses.
Does Final Fantasy 16 have a post-game?
You won’t be able to play Final Fantasy 16 side quests once you’ve completed the story. The game ends on a pretty definitive full stop, which narratively wouldn’t work if you were able to explore Valisthea freely afterwards. You can, however, load up a previous save and complete any remaining side quests before the last handful of story chapters.
To avoid missing out on any side quests, we recommend completing them before starting the Back to their Origin main story quest. Beyond that point, you won’t be able to freely fast travel nor can you dip out of the story – it’s very much a point of no return and you on a set path to the credits from that point on. The game suggests as much with a message asking you if you are ready to continue.
That covers how side quests and the story work in Final Fantasy 16. If you’re looking to complete other optional content before wrapping up the story, check out all the Final Fantasy 16 Orchestrion Rolls locations and all the Final Fantasy 16 Notorious Marks locations in our dedicated guides.
