The first hefty post-launch update for God of War Ragnarok has arrived and it includes the promised Photo Mode. Among a host of tweaks and fixes covering everything from gameplay to stability and progression is the brand new feature sure to please the budding game photographers out there.

Much like in the original 2018 reboot, players can now capture everything from their fiercest combat encounters to the most stunning vistas by way of all those intimate moments between father and son.

How to Use Photo Mode in God of War Ragnarok

To use photo in God of War Ragnarok:

  • Tap the options button to bring up the options menu
  • Press the square button to access Photo Mode

Photo Mode Features

Though we wouldn’t describe the Photo Mode in God of War Ragnarok as the most expansive we’ve seen, it features a solid selection of adjustable opinions to hone in on that perfect shot. Here’s a breakdown of what’s available:

  • Apply expressions to characters in a scene. Accessible characters include Kratos, Atreus, Freya, Brok, Sindri, Tyr, Angrboda, Thor, and Thrúd.
  • Hide main or side characters in a scene.
  • Adjustable camera controls: field of view, focal length, and camera roll.
  • Adjustable shutter controls: depth of field, focus distance, and f-stop.
  • Adjustable brightness and filter control: film grain, exposure, filter intensity, filter vibrance, and filter saturation. 
  • Filters: Atreus, Black and White, Cool, Cross, Kratos, Sepia, Vibrant, Warm, Blurange, Old, Pastel, Silhouette, 
  • Add vignettes (includes vignette intensity and vignette falloff controls), borders, and logos.
