Contents hide Best weapon combos in Throne and Liberty Crossbow weapon combos Dagger weapon combos Greatsword weapon combos Great Staff weapon combos Longbow weapon combos Sword and Shield Tome and Wand weapon combosDue to the classless nature of Throne and Liberty, players can instead do the define-your-own playstyle thing. It’s nothing new to the Amazon Games MMO series, with New World offering a similar function. Instead, players can select any one of seven weapons, and then build them with several passives and skill from each weapon. That way, you can get a custom build playing how you want to play (till minmaxers get involved anyway). So, to help you figure out what weapon types work well with each other, here’s a closer look at the best weapon combos in Throne and Liberty to try, with suggestions for each weapon.
Best weapon combos in Throne and Liberty
To make the layout easier, here’s a table for each weapon, with crosses for weapon types you should try. We’ll have a bit more detail on why you should try each weapon combo below for what playstyles and usefulness they offer each other.

If you’re interested, we cover the main weapon combos and builds in our Throne and Liberty weapon tier list.
Crossbow weapon combos
Crossbows are fairly unique in that they have passives that benefit from offhand bonus weapons. So, it makes them good pairs for the bonuses from Dagger items in your gear. Furthermore, the Crossbow is all about critting, and getting in close, and the Dagger offers them the best opportunities to do just that. A close second is the greatsword for their heavy attack and gap-closing tools to help them get into combat.
It’s worth noting that the dagger and crossbow combo is currently meta in Korea for PvE. So if you want to try hard this is the most notable weapon combo to try.
Dagger weapon combos
Daggers are a strong PvP support weapon, and pair very well with every other weapon. Players can choose to spec for evasion, silences, snares, stuns, and more. You also get invisability which is an extremely valuable skill only countered by a flash arrow from the bow. Daggers also grant lots of crit chance and crit damage modifiers, meaning it’s very good to use for any major DPS weapon too. It best pairs with Crossbow and Greatsword in PvE, while bows, tomes and great staff players can enjoy its usefulness in PvP.

The Greatsword is a strong melee weapon with high burst and attack potential. It works very well with daggers for the bonus crit and extra synergy with their stun effects in both PvE and PvP. Players looking to tank can also pair with the Sword and Shield, as the Greatsword gives the tanking weapon some gap closers, alongside an additional defensive skill.
It’s worth mentioning the Greatsword and Dagger is very strong in PvP due to all the mobility, cc and burst the weapon brings. It’s a little harder to do in PvE since it is more gear-dependent.
If you want a battle mage playstyle, you can go Greatsword + Staff. The reason for it is for the synergy with greatsword hit and evasion buffs, and for the mage’s CC and CDDr skill, High Locus. Lots of Greatsword’s big skills are 24 seconds CD, so High Locus helps to drastically lower them. Throw in some CC effects from the staff to ensure you can easily cleave multiple enemies, and you have a strong AOE build, especially for outdoor farming.
Great Staff weapon combos
Magical caster players have quite a few weapon combos to try in Throne and Liberty. Firstly, the most common build is the Staff + Bow combo. This is a pure long-raged DPS playstyle, where you rotate cooldowns between bow and staff. The result is lots of long-range damage for PvE and PvP. Staying as far back as you can is handy too, because of a bow passive and a staff weapon perk you can get at end game. Throw in the mana regen, and staff cooldown reduction skill, and you’re constantly spamming your skills for big damage.
If you want to play more magical the Staff and Tome weapon combo works. Tome is typically more support-focused. You can either off-heal your party with it, or use it to apply curses to damage foes, especially with fire skills that leave burning effects, and pop them later when it is fully stacked for party buffs. You’ll build the stacks while DPSing with your main staff, and getting lots of amane from both weapon passives. You can also go even further into the support role by playing it more healing spec, with added CC and party support from the staff too if you want to.
If you want to play a battle mage, then you can go Dagger. Again Dagger crits, blinking and invis helps the mage play in PvP. Throw in added crits from the Dagger with your high-damage spells like Meteor and you can do a lot of large burst damage.
Longbow weapon combos
As mentioned in the previous chapter, the staff is your main weapon combo. You get lots of cooldown reduction, and mana regen for spamming skills. Plus there’s synergy with the distance damage bonus.
If you want to play more crit focused build, then daggers can help. You get invis and shadow step, stuns, with your roots on your bow for further harassment. Throw in the higher crit chance and combos, followed by some high-powered bow skills and you have a strong burst playstyle. This is much better for PvP mind you.
If you want a more support build, then you can play with the Tome. The Tome and bow have strong utility. Bow has things like a CC cleanser, alongside Nature’s blessing for some group sustain. Throw in more heals from the Tome and you have a strong backline support playstyle. It’s sort of a druid-type playstyle
Sword and Shield
For players looking to tank, you have the Sword and Shield. While the weapon alone is good enough, the weapon combos offer some more flavour. Take the Greatword for a more knight playstyle. You get more gap closers, better taunts with certain weapon drops, and more defensive skills and stuns.
If you would rather go a paladin playstyle you have the tome option. Using this build grants self-sustain via passives. You can even use self-heals and Aoe heals to top you up in fights. This is incredibly good in group PvP as you become much harder. It works in PvE too since there are shield drops at the game that offer buffs to your self-healing.
Wands pair well with DoT builds, support skills, and even with the sword and shield for a tanking combo playstyle. Image via Amazon Games / NCSOFT.Tome and Wand weapon combos
Since we’ve covered everything already, here’s a quick summary of the weapon from other headings
- Paladin tank build with sword and shield
- Support caster with great staff
- Ranger druid support with longbow.
The only build not really covered is the PvE warlock build. You use Tome and daggers to ramp up curses, DoTs and Posions. You want to ramp up DoTs to get your curse explosion skill as strong as it can be. The explosion then buffs your allies while giving you some damage. It’s a niche build, but, there’s synergy between the Tome skills and DoT build via poison and burn to make it work. We wouldn’t recommend it, but, the options are there. We have a more in-depth Throne and Liberty healer build here if you’re interested?
