The side quests in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana aren't always the most obvious. Back in Redmont, characters will appear with a big green exclamation point if they want to talk to you, but many more side quests are entirely missable if you're not in the right place at the right time.

Elena, the sister of Chester Stoddart, is somewhat elusive throughout the game. She leaves the village frequently, often without anyone knowing. She leaves at one point and the game never really informs you. It's up to you to seek her out, so let's go find her.

When Does Elena Go Missing?

While Elena disappears plenty of times, she is typically found or reappears as part of the story, except in one specific scenario. This quest is entirely and easily missable, so make sure to not speed too fast between story locations.

Specifically, this quest becomes available after you complete the Abandoned Mine, and before you travel to Elderm Mountains. It's a pretty tight margin, so avoid going to the Elderm Mountains at all until you've found her.

Where To Find Elena

Graciously in this scenario, the world of Oath in Felghana is fairly small, with only small paths connecting each of the major areas you need to do it. There isn't really a concept of optional areas in the game.

To find Elena, you need to make your way towards Valestein Castle, and then head downwards towards the coast. This will bring you to a small pier with Elena staring out towards Genos Island.

Escorting Elena Back To Redmont

Have a quick chat with Elena for her to share her feelings about Chester, her childhood, and her supposed affinity with Genos Island. After this, she decides to head back home, though Chester is hardly going to let her go home by herself and offers to escort her instead.

This gives Elena a health bar and has her follow Chester. Escorting her is a simple process. She follows behind him, and you just have to make sure enemies don't attack her.

Elena doesn't walk at the same speed as Adol, however, and the game will warn you if she starts to fall behind.

Elena's health bar is quite short, so make sure she doesn't take more than a hit or two. Otherwise, it's a straight path back to Redmont with no other obstacles. She'll thank you for the assistance, though she won't offer any other rewards beyond that. But helping her is a reward of its own.
