Xbox has revealed that its next showcase will take place on June 9. It will be immediately followed by a direct based around a single studio, although Xbox has redacted its name in the announcement.

However, The Verge reports that this studio is Activision and the direct will centre around the next entry in the Call of Duty series. This lines up with the official announcement for the double broadcast, with Xbox promising news on "the next instalment of a beloved franchise".

Xbox Reportedly Hosting Call Of Duty Direct After Games Showcase

As soon as Xbox announced its next showcase, fans got to work guessing what word had been redacted. However, they didn't have to guess for long, as The Verge quickly reported that the second broadcast will be focused on Call of Duty, freeing up more space in the main showcase.

The main show will reportedly give us the much sought-after release dates for Avowed and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. With this in mind, it's likely that we'll get a good look at both titles, since they're both expected at some point this year.

This will be Xbox's first showcase to feature games from Activision Blizzard, following the successful acquisition in October of last year. So, it makes sense that Xbox would want to capitalise on this by focusing on Activision's biggest franchise. This is a similar approach that Xbox took after its acquisition of Bethesda, letting the studio focus on its own games - mostly Starfield - outside of the usual showcase.

With the showcase already leaked, it remains to be seen if Xbox confirms that the June showcase will centre around Call of Duty, or keep the details redacted until then. Whatever the case, it promises to be a stacked showcase, with multiple big releases getting new trailer and updates.
