World Of Warcraft: Dragonflight - How To Farm Spark Of Ingenuity And Artisan's Mettle

World of Warcraft has completely overhauled every profession and how they function. Instead of only a handful of trades being relevant, they've all been lifted out of obscurity, and every profession in the game can offer unique collectibles or powerful endgame gear.

Along with these sweeping reforms, there are two rare reagents that can be used by any profession: Sparks of Ingenuity and Artisan's Mettle. These will be needed by everyone to craft coveted endgame gear throughout the expansion. If you're a crafter, and you need to get your hands on these reagents, here's everything you need to know.
Overview
As you pick up one of these improved professions, you may notice that you'll begin to accumulate these reagents in your bag, but you won't be able to use them yet. This is because Artisan's Mettle and the Sparks of Ingenuity are both used to craft Epic recipes, which you won't be able to unlock right away.
In addition to being a crafting material, Artisan's Mettle is special because it can often be used as a currency with the Artisan's Consortium, the crafting-centric faction found across the Dragon Isles. As you increase your reputation with them, you can spend this resource for new recipes or research.
Unfortunately, both of these reagents are Soulbound, meaning that you can't send them to your other alts. Luckily, the game provides you with plenty of opportunities to grab them, so long as you meet prerequisite conditions.
Artisan's Mettle Farm
You'll be able to unlock Artisan's Mettle by merely playing your profession, but if that isn't enough, you can complete several quests through the Artisan's Consortium that will reward you with more of the rare resource.
New Crafting Recipes
The easiest way to acquire Artisan's Mettle is to craft new recipes for the first time. When you make a new item, you'll be awarded with a set amount of Artisan's Mettle. As you can imagine, this will quickly add up as you level.
If you have a gathering profession, like Mining or Herbalism, you'll instead gain Artisan's Mettle with every new ore or herb that you collect.
Although this method can supply you with enough reagents to sustain your recipes for quite a long time, it isn't an infinite source. Gradually, you may run out of new things to craft, and so you'll have to turn to questing.
Questing
Every week, you'll be tasked with a slew of quests from the Artisan's Consortium in Valdrakken. These can range from a wide variety of tasks relating to your profession in some way, and often reward a flat rate of Artisan's Mettle.
However, there is one weekly quest that will gift you free Artisan's Mettle — Show Your Mettle. This can be accepted from Thomas Bright, found on the upper tier of the Artisan's Market in Valdrakken.
Spark Of Ingenuity Farm
Unlike Artisan's Mettle, the Spark of Ingenuity isn't unlocked to crafters right away. Instead, you'll first have to go through a short questline before you unlock the chance to find more around the Dragon Isles.
Questing
In order to begin finding Sparks of Ingenuity, you'll first have to progress through the questline In Tyr's Footsteps. You'll find the first quest, Lock And Shock, in Valdrakken as soon as you hit max level.

The Challenge quests will each grant their own Spark of Ingenuity, but the real prize comes at the end of the questline. For finishing Innovation Complete, you'll gain Essence Detector, which will allow you to find Bottled Essence around the Dragon Isles.
Bottled Essence
As you do various activities around the four zones, you might encounter Bottled Essence. These can be traded in to the Engine of Innovation to transform each one into a Spark of Ingenuity.
While the drop chance is low, there are a few different places that it can drop, including:
- Mythic+ dungeons or rewards from raid bosses.
- Elite rare mobs found around the Dragon Isles.
- Treasures unearthed with the Dragonscale Expedition.
- Different reward packs obtained from the four major factions.
