  • Rhysidia hacked Insomniac last year and stole 1.6 terabytes of data which is still being dug into today.
  • A Sentinel model has been uncovered, so the iconic mutant-hunting robots may appear in the game.
  • The X-Men don't yet exist in Wolverine, but a leaked roadmap revealed that Insomniac plans to launch a game all about the team in 2030.

Last year, ransomware group Rhysidia hacked into Insomniac Games and stole 1.6 terabytes of data, including a roadmap of future, unannounced projects, as well as a playable build of Wolverine.

Given the enormous size of the breach, people are still digging through the files today, uncovering new details like the appearance of the iconic X-Mansion and playable Jean Grey sections. Now, a Sentinel model has been found, pointing to the appearance of one of the most recognisable X-Men villains outside of Magneto.

The design is far more comic-accurate than in the movies, though it has been made to look more mechanical than in the comics and cartoons. You can see it embedded below, though it isn't complete and has no colours.

Who Are The Sentinels?

Simply put, the Sentinels are mutant hunters. Designed by Bolivar Trask, they were created to cull the mutant population and prevent what he and many other villains saw as the rise of a new species that would render humanity extinct.

They're often incredibly tall and fire energy blasts while flying, making them formidable foes. However, in the comics, they aren't unveiled until well into the X-Men's existence during a televised debate between Trask and Charles Xavier, AKA Professor X. In Wolverine, we know the X-Men aren't around yet, but the Insomniac hack revealed that a standalone game centred around the team will launch at some point in 2030.

Wolverine has fought Sentinels by himself before across comics, film, and cartoons. In the movie tie-in game X-Men Origins: Wolverine, he goes toe-to-toe with an enormous, skyscraper-sized Sentinel, even chasing it mid-flight.

All of this is unannounced and still in development, so it may not end up in the final version of the game. But for now, we have a decent look at an Insomniac-designed Sentinel.
