Summary

  • Hunters have versatile transmog options for various styles and occasions.
  • Iconic sets like Lightning Charged Battlegear, Guise of the Unseen Path, and Windstalker Armor offer unique aesthetics.
  • Newer sets like Inexorable Castigator's Guise and Dark Ranger's Attire provide modern alternatives for hunters.

Considered by some to be the easiest class to play in World of Warcraft, hunters have been the butt of jokes for years. Plenty of snark and sarcasm about their abilities, or lack of, exist (What no, it’s not my pet pulling half the trash we skipped), but what can’t be denied is that hunters have style.

These mail-wearing masters of the hunt have transmog options for all occasions: subtle, flashy, dynamic, dark, and more. Here are some of the best transmog sets for hunters, with options from different expansions and eras for all your needs. Now get out there and track down that rare pet in style.

8 Lightning Charged Battlegear

Set Name

Lightning Charged Battlegear

Required Level

35

Location

Bastion of Twilight

Twilight Highlands

This transmog from all the way back in Tier 11 (Bastion of Twilight) is a classic. Filled with bright greens and earth tones, it perfectly fits the hunter fantasy of a nature-bound hero and was one of the first truly ambitious hunter sets.

The focal point is the head transmog, The mask is made to resemble the skull of a dead beast, perhaps a murloc, or even a naga. This set fits the aesthetic of its tier perfectly, invoking the mysterious, dark energy of the Bastion of Twilight Raid. The Lightning Charged Battlegear is both macabre and whimsical, much like World of Warcraft itself.

7 Guise Of The Unseen Path

Set Name

Guise of the Unseen Path

Required Level

45

Location

Trueshot Lodge

This set is almost mandatory for a list dedicated to the best hunter transmogs. It's the Class Armor Set from the Legion expansion, which was designed to be the embodiment of a hunter, and the designers did not disappoint.

Like many other great hunter sets, it invokes the wildness of the class. A hunter wearing this will be covered in fur and spikes, but all in subtle shades of brown and blue. The headpiece is an eyecatching design, resembling an abstract beast. A lot of the hunter transmogs on this list make use of great headwear, and any hunter will have plenty of options to choose from. But the Guise of the Unseen Path remains an excellent choice for the fashionable hunter.

6 Windstalker Armor [Mythic]

Set Name

Windstalker Armor

Required Level

45

Location

Tomb of Sargeras

Broken Isles

The Tomb of Sargeras set was, as a whole, an excellently designed set. It was a throwback to the Tier 6/Black Temple set. This was a clever choice, linking the first expansion to battle the Burning Legion to the one where the Legion was defeated.

World Of Warcraft: Dragonflight - Best Gold-Making Professions

Because of the big changes in World of Warcraft Dragonflight's professions, gold-making has never been this easy.

While this set is excellent as a whole, the stand-out version of Windstalker Armor is the Mythic version. The primary color is a rich red, which is accented by bright pops of neon blue. The eye, skull, and slashes in the fabric are all this vibrant blue. The eye on the left shoulderpad even has a blue arrow stuck in it, which is a delightful touch the other versions don’t have. While many of the transmogs listed here are wonderful in all colors, the Mythic Windstalker Armor really is something special.

5 Death-Devourer's Vestment

Set Name

Death-Devourer's Vestment

Required Level

50

Location

The Battle of Dazar'alor

Zuldazar

The Battle of Dazar'alor raid sets took a lot of inspiration from the dangerous jungles of Zuldazar. Any set makes the player feel like a jungle explorer on a mysterious adventure, but the Hunter set truly embodies the darkness of Nazmir.

It's designed to look like the grotesque Crawgs and Blood Ticks the Blood Trolls so adore. The Normal version of this set is especially striking, with bright red fabric clashing against the stark bone fragments decorating this transmog. If a hunter is ever looking for a set that goes full Swamp Gothic, they need look no further than the Death Devourer Vestment.

4 Inexorable Castigator’s Guise [Heroic]

Set Name

Inexorable Castigator's Guise [Heroic]

Required Level

60

Location

Castle Nathria

Revendreth

While the Shadowlands expansion has a controversial reputation, to put it mildly, the Castle Nathria raid was considered a high point of the expansion. Adventurers fought their way through a gloomy, gothic castle filled with vampiric enemies and dark secrets.

Those who braved Castle Nathria’s depths were rewarded with the greatest treasure: cosmetics. The Castle Nathria hunter’s set, Inexorable Castigator’s Guise, is an excellent addition to any transmog rotation. With features such as skulls, daggers, a cool mask, and pockets (!!!), it lets any hunter unleash their inner Van Helsing. Shadowlands may have been a difficult time for the game, but hunters have never looked so stylish.

3 Dark Ranger’s Attire

Set Name

Dark Ranger's Attire

Required Level

50 (Must have completed the "Return to Lordaeron" questline on a Hunter character)

Location

Trueshot Lodge

The Dark Ranger’s Attire is a modern classic of hunter transmog. Dark Ranger’s Attire is the long-awaited answer to the demand for Dark Ranger content, and the transmog more than delivers. Rendered in shades of dark blue and brown, this transmog set is perfect both for hunters desiring a bit of stealth, as well as fans of the macabre.

It also perfectly suited the then-new Darkfallen customization option for Night Elves and Blood Elves. While it is a very simple transmog set, simplicity isn’t a bad thing. The Dark Ranger’s Attire set is a multi-use set that’s perfect for multiple kinds of characters. With it on, you’ll feel like a million bucks- and kill a million too.

2 Centaur Dungeon Harness

Set Name

Centaur Dungeon Harness

Required Level

60+

Location

Earned through Dragonflight dungeons

This set was a hidden gem of Dragonflight. It's obtainable through running dragons, and is likely already in the wardrobe of many hunters. It's designed to invoke the Centaurs of Ohn'ahran Plains.

Eagle feathers decorate the headpiece and shoulder pads as a nod to the importance of eagles in Centaur culture. While environmental damage isn’t really a thing in World of Warcraft, at least not outside of raids or dungeons or big puddles of slime, the fabric mask on the headpiece brings to mind a hunter hiding their face from the harsh elements encountered in the Waking Isles. This set is all about the fantasy of exploring this new world, and looking great while doing it. Get out there and try it out, maybe with some new friends

1 Yaungol Slayer Battlegear

Set Name

Yaungol Slayer Battlegear

Required Level

30

Loacation

Heart of Fear/Terrace of Endless Spring

Dread Wastes/The Veiled Stair

With the popularity of Pandaria Remix, a lot of people have been taking a second look at the Pandaria transmogs. One of the best options for Hunters is the Yaungol Slayer Battlegear from the Heart of Fear/Terrace of Endless Spring raids.

This set invokes the Yaungol, a brutal race of yak-like creatures distantly related to Tauren. They can be found marauding in Kun-Lai Summit, causing destruction wherever they go. This set really captures the chaotic nature of the Yaungol, and you truly feel like a slayer of beasts when wearing it.

Hunters rocking this set look like they’ve just fought their way up to Mount Neverest and back, without even stopping for a plate of Grummlecakes. With this set, and maybe a cloud serpent or two, you too can take a little bit of the Summit wherever you go.
