However, games of this genre can quickly become challenging if you don't know how to tackle them. If you want to make it easier and work through the game, use the best beginner tips and tricks to help you complete the game and see the various endings.
Easy Mode And Max Credits Are In The Settings
To keep it simple, Wings of Bluestar is a challenging game where even Normal difficulty will pose challenges, especially if you don't have much experience with the genre. If it's your first playthrough, you should utilize the following settings to help you get through Story Mode and see the endings.
Settings
Why You Should Choose It
Easy Mode
The game will be easier since enemies will shoot fewer attacks and have lower health, meaning you can defeat them faster. However, it'll be challenging for your first playthrough. On top of that, the game is relatively short, so you won't have many issues going through it.
All Credits
You'll always have access to the max amount of credits instead of being stuck to a set amount.
You can also add slow down to your death, making the game slower whenever you take a hit. That allows you to process everything on the screen, understand what hit you, and avoid it in the future.
Unlock Boss Rush Mode And Use Arcade Mode
The boss fights can quickly become challenging as you play through the game. Since you have to play through hard levels to reach those bosses and fight them, you'll want to unlock the Boss Rush Mode.
If you have Boss Rush, you can fight each of the bosses and learn their patterns, so you'll be ready and know what to expect once you reach them. Doing so will help you get through Story Mode and see what the game offers. Arcade Mode can then assist you with the levels themselves.
While you start with Arcade Mode, which goes through the levels in Story Mode, you have to unlock Boss Rush by following a few steps.
- Select Bonus Mode on the main menu.
- Pick the Risk Shop.
- Spend 5,000 Risk to unlock Boss Rush.
You'll get Risk from playing the game, so just hop into Arcade Mode until you collect enough currency to purchase Boss Rush. It'll only take you a few minutes.

Which Character To Choose
You'll have two characters in this game: Aya and Zarak. You'll want to compare and try both characters to see which one you prefer.
Character Name
Who Should Pick Them
Why They Work For That Person
Aya
Beginner or safer players.
Aya has a solid defense, good attack, and low speed. She can't maneuver well but will deal enough damage to get by. Her added defense also makes her a good choice for those who struggle at dodging and want to focus on survival rather than getting a high score.
Zarak
More experienced or fast-paced players.
Zarak has high speed, amazing attack, and an average defense. While he'll have a harder time surviving, his strong attacks and speed make up for it. His special and standard attack combo deals extreme damage to bosses, allowing him to breeze through them.
Since you only have these two characters to worry about, you may as well try them both to see who you prefer. They also have different storylines, making them both worth the time until you determine who you prefer for Arcade Mode.
Utilizing Your Shots
You have two shot types you can use while playing the game. Each has advantages and disadvantages, though the names can be misleading. For example, the normal and auto shots have automatic shooting, so if you hold down the buttons, you'll shoot the attack at max speed. Aside from those types, you also have turrets and specials to help you.
Shot Type
How It Works
When To Use It
Normal
The attack shoots out normally, dealing standard damage, but slowing down your movement.
Go with the standard shot for most situations since it'll deal the most damage. However, if tons of projectiles appear on the screen, and you must quickly escape, you should switch to auto.
Auto
The attack is weaker than normal but shoots at the standard rate. However, you'll move around at the standard rate.
Turrets
Machines that appear above or below your ship. They shoot attacks while allowing you to change their direction.
They mostly get used as additional firepower, but you can use them to attack from behind. For example, if you see the word Danger appear at the four corners of the screen, you can turn your turrets around to attack them while you take out the front ones.
Specials
You use a specific special attack on the character, though they all involve shooting a laser.
You'll want to save your special move for the boss fight. If you fire the special while shooting your standard attack, you'll deal massive damage to the boss, shortening the fight.
There's no penalty for shooting, so you should shoot non-stop while you play. That way, you can attack enemies as soon as they enter the stage, maximizing the damage.

Prioritize Survival Over Damage
Even though you can constantly shoot, you should prioritize your survival over dealing damage. For example, if you focus on dodging attacks and don't deal enough during a boss fight, the boss will run away after a while.
Since you can die in a single hit, you should always remain safe and do what you can to avoid losing your three lives on one credit. If you struggle to stay alive, you can utilize multiple tips to help you through the game.
Survival Tip
How To Use It
Utilizing Space
You have an entire screen of space to avoid attacks and enemies. Usually, bullets spread out as they approach you, so stay on the other side of the screen where the bullets approach from. Even though you'll stick to the left half most of the time, you must sometimes go to the right side.
Watch Projectiles, Not Enemies
Even though you want to shoot enemies and take them down, you should focus on the projectiles. Doing so will help you avoid them and not lose a life rather than trying to dodge them at the last minute.
The Foreground
As you play through levels, the foreground will appear on the ceiling and the ground. If you touch it, you'll die immediately, so you must look ahead to see it approaching and stay away from it. If you don't watch for it, you may try to avoid an attack and crash into the foreground.
Take Advantage Of The Credits In Story Mode
Arcade Mode has a credit system where each credit gets you three lives. You also have this system in Stroy Mode, but it functions differently. While you have three lives and three credits, they initially don't carry over to the next stage. That means when you complete a stage and used credits previously, you'll start the following level with the same number of credits.
This can initially seem intimidating, especially if you struggle with the first level and start the next one without credits. However, you should go through the cutscenes as usual and start the next level. From here, you can try your best or immediately crash your ship and get a game over.
If you take that approach, you can load your save file and start the stage all over again, except you'll have three credits, so take advantage of this as you go through Story Mode and get a feel for the game.
