PostsIf your Sim is into insects and collecting, they will want to catch all the creepy crawlies the world of The Sims has to offer. Fortunately, there are tons for your Sims to get your hands on, each with its own rarity, value, and spot to find them.
Where To Find Insects
Insects in The Sims 4 can be found at any of the lots in the destination world, Granite Falls.
Most common and uncommon bugs can be found on any of the lots, but rare bugs can only be found at the community lot, Granite Falls Forest, and the hidden lot, the Deep Woods.
To catch insects once you find them, all you need to do is click on them and select Collect Insects.
To find them, look for small bugs either crawling around or flying in the air. Because they have animations, they aren't too hard to spot. Unlike the foliage around Granite Falls, they will be moving around.
Insects can be found on the ground or in the air, depending on if they're flying or walking bugs. If you want to catch them all, you'll need to check both.
All insects also have specific times of day that they can be found, whether during the day or night. If an insect can only be found at night, it will not appear anywhere in the world when the sun is up, or vice versa. You'll need to wait.
Insects can only be found in Granite Falls, so if you don't have the Outdoor Retreat game pack, sadly, you will not be able to find any bugs in The Sims 4.

There are three types of rarity for insects, Common, Uncommon, and Rare. As the names suggest, the common insects will be quite easy to find, but uncommon and rare insects will be more difficult.
Some bugs will fight back - if you try to catch them, insects like bees can sting you, or stink bugs will spray you. You won't get the bugs in your inventory if this happens; you'll just need to find some more to attempt to catch.
How To Get To The Deep Woods
While most insects can be found in Granite Falls Forest or at the Campgrounds, some are only found in The Deep Woods. This is a hidden lot that you can get to by exploring the bramble patch in the Granite Falls Forest.
The bramble patch is on the edge of the lot, on the opposite side of the river and fishing spots. It's covered by a lot of trees and foliage, so zoom in to find it easier.
Choose to Explore the bramble patch, and keep exploring until it asks if you want to travel to the Deep Woods. You might have to explore a few times to get there.
Tips For Finding Insects
One of the most important tips for catching insects is do not speed up time in the game. If you go to Fast Speed or Ultra Speed, you can easily miss insects. They don't stay in one place forever.
Another tip is to look at all places on the lot. Large lots, like Granite Falls Forest and The Deep Woods, are very big, and insects will be hiding in every corner. Don't stick to one place on the lot; spread out.
Luckily, when you're out hunting for insects, you'll be able to tell which insect you are going to catch. Each of the bugs has its own models, so you can tell if you're picking up a ladybug, katydid, or anything else.
If you're specifically looking for rare insects, your best bet is to head straight to the Deep Woods. While these can be found in the forest, they're more likely to appear on the hidden lot.
