PostsAs a member of the Na'vi tribe, you will encounter many of these creatures. From gentle giants that you can collect resources from, to ferocious predators that you'll test your skills against, the creatures of Pandora are diverse and impressive spectacles to witness in the game's wilderness.
10 Bonehelm Rhino
Medium-sized, hard-headed herbivores with a mean inclination to ram into anything in their vicinity. The Bonehelm Rhino is the Pandora equivalent of the annoying creature that menaces you just for your existence in its territory.
Learn Where To Aim For A Good Shot
They are heavily armored, with their heads being a mix of a hammer and shield, with the only exploitable weakness being the breathing vents on their sides. These short-tempered animal tanks are perfect for practicing clean kill shots for bowmasters and their hide can be used to make fairly robust weapons and armor.
9 Cloaked Panther
Lean and mean pack hunting predators that skulk in the woodlands and grasslands for their favorite prey, the arrow deer. Cloaked panthers are hard to find in the dense jungles of their environments, but once they strike, they can glide in on their membranes with fierce efficiency. They make for great experience of handling small and medium-sized predators.
Fighting The Pack
Like the viperwolf, these beasts can coordinate ambushes and attacks, but once one or two members of the pack perish, the rest scatter, leaving you safe for a time. The best moments to strike is when they lunge, leaving them open to a counterstrike or spear thrust. Their materials are great for cooking meat and making fine tools for exploration.
8 Zakru
The biggest living land animal on Pandora. The Zakru is a massive fungus eating beast that mostly just stands in one area eating until the food supply is depleted. These gentle giants have been in symbiosis with the Na'vi tribes of the region for generations and live in harmony with them. Because of that, they are one of the few creatures in the game that don't give you an option to hunt.

PostsLiving In Harmony With Giants
Their presence in the world was greatly affected by the arrival of the RDA and bringing them back to the frontier is one of the many motivations of the Zeswa tribe. Zakru milk is a precious ingredient in cooking and is best for food boosts that you'll get for big missions.
7 Direhorse
The Pandora equivalent of riding a horse in an open-world setting. Riding a direhorse requires going through a training question. Afterward, they become vital creatures to travel quickly across the upper plains. Riding them gives an incredible sense of scale while traversing Pandora and the feeling of seeing the nature of the world as you ride these alien steeds is breathtaking. Taming your first direhorse is believed to be the moment when you begin to learn how to make bonds with the creatures in the world.
Riding Through The Wild Frontier
Because the bond needed to tame and ride them is temporary, they don't stick around after the dismount and riding one will always require going through the process of soothing them, so they don't gallop away. Once you unlock the ability to ride the banshee, these guys are still viable for traveling across the upper plains and short-winded hunts of other beasts.
6 Soundblast Colossus
Giant beasts with impressive sails on their backs, Soundblast Colossus mostly wander alone, but once the RDA influence is taken care of in the grasslands, herds of them can be seen across the views of the frontier. They were one of the first new creatures shown in the trailers for Frontiers of Pandora and are a sight to behold. Hunting them gives you fatty meat for cooking and tough armor for gear crafting.
Blasting The RDA's Defenses With Their Own Captive
Not only are they impressive-looking beasts that yield tough materials, but they are often the subject of rescue when the RDA poach them. Saving them from the RDA's traps gives an opening for the large beast to produce a sonic boom from its backscales that disrupts the machinery of the RDA.
5 Sailfin Goliath
The Sailfin Goliath is a rare and beautiful cousin of the Soundblast Colossus that is a practical blessing whenever it appears. They are considered to be living gardens, nourishing an entire microecosystem surrounding them and these are the resources you will be collecting when you find them. Bonding with these giant adorable creatures gives additional chances to harvest from their gardens along with increasing the ranking of what's gathered.

PostsThe Rare Beauty Of The Living Garden
Killing them for materials is extremely frowned upon, especially since everything you can harvest from them can just be picked off their backs while they're foraging. Many of the delicious ingredients you can find surrounding them in their gardens include the sailfin blossom. These fibers are also great for special armor.
4 Hammerhead Titanothere
Massive rhinoceros-looking beasts from the films, Titanotheres are the creatures to hunt for when it's time to start collecting high-tier materials for weapons and gear as the game's difficulty starts to spike. Hammerhead Titanotheres are territorial and fearsome to attack head on. Fully grown individuals are impervious to most predator attacks and yield the best materials for an expert Na'vi hunter.
Territorial Smackdown With The Titanothere
When Titanotheres notice your approach, their territorial instincts kick in, turning them into juggernauts to face upfront. Their rearing attacks are enough to knock you a few feet away and leave you winded. They are incredibly difficult to fight and are best taken down with clean kills after a critical shot in the vitals.
3 Mountain Banshee - Ikran
Your own special flying companion. Your mountain banshee, true to the films, can be named, stays bonded to you throughout the game, and is unique to each playthrough. There are even customization options for your own banshee, from tribal markings to armored gear. Once you've bonded with one mountain banshee, you are opened up to a whole new level of exploration across the western frontier, flying hundreds of miles to any objective and location on the map.
Your Best Friend On The Journey
Your companion banshee has far more control, options, and freedoms compared to the direhorse mount. Flying on the banshee opens up your combat options as well, taking out RDA aircraft, setting up guerrilla tactics and escaping from an overwhelming assault. They also have their own skill tree to upgrade throughout the game for new boosts and abilities.
2 Thanator
The Thanator is the main apex predator of the jungles and the ecological equivalent of a tiger or lion. On their own, they can be a fierce challenge and are the ultimate test for Na'vi warriors. These powerful predators are not to be trifled with unless you are equipped with formidable weapons and proper skills for Na'vi senses to take them down.
Tactics Against This Predator
Keeping yourself stationed on the high ground is a great strategy to keep this lunging predator at arms length. As the pinnacle of Pandora's dangers, defeating one grants you an achievement along with valuable materials to craft important weapons in the game.
1 Stormglider
The king of the skies in the Western Frontier. The Stormglider is larger than its close cousin the Great Leonopteryx and is in charge of the same niche in the environment, being the biggest flying predator in the region. This winged menace is the top boss creature to combat in the base game. Aside from being intimidating in the skies for unsuspecting fliers, the Stormglider has a sharp stinging tail for a deadly weapon.
Soaring Into The Hunt
To bring the beast into a vulnerable scenario, you'll have to lure it to the ground where it's a bit clumsier as you load up your best arsenal to fire at its weak points. Hunting Stormgliders will yield some of the highest-grade materials for the best weapons and gear for the endgame missions and taking on the toughest RDA camps.
