The Sims 4 has many career paths, from part-time roles as a babysitter or barista, up to roles as an Attorney, Teacher, Stylist, or Programmer. There are also freelance careers, active roles, and much more. However, sometimes you may have a Sim who doesn't fit into any of the game's boxes.

If you want your Sim to have a career that there isn't a path for, then the Ministry of Labor is here to help. This service allows your Sim to become whatever they wish and is simple to join, once you know how.

What Is The Ministry Of Labor?

The Ministry of Labor is a way of registering your Sim's career in the game, even if they don't follow a traditional career path. Usually this will be something like making and selling items, but there are no restrictions.

If you have a Sim who paints, writes books, sings, or programs but you don't want to follow the structured freelancer career path with clients, feedback, etc. the Ministry of Labor is the answer. It can also be used if you want to tell unique stories about your career by staying outside the structure but still being recognized as in employment.

How Do I Register With The Ministry Of Labor?

In order to register you need to make sure that your Sim doesn't have a job. This is because registering is essentially the same as choosing a career, so you can only do it if you are unemployed as far as the career tab in game is concerned.

Then simply follow these steps:

Open your Sim's Mobile screen and navigate to the Yellow Briefcase Icon - the Business Tab.

Scroll down to Register With The Ministry of Labor and select it.

You will then see a menu pop up, asking for details.

Fill in your Sim's chosen career and a brief description. There are no content restrictions here but there are character limits.

Think of this as a short social media post about your new job.

Once happy, select the tick icon to confirm.

Your Sim will then display their new profession in the career tab.

To see it simply click the Career button in the bottom right-hand corner and the title and description you selected will be displayed.

What Are The Benefits Of Registering With The Ministry Of Labor?

There are no tangible benefits or perks to registering, like more money, or tasks to complete. The benefits are entirely social.

Once registered, the game will recognize your job in terms of social interactions. You'll be able to discuss work, and if asked what your job is then your Sim will use their job title, rather than saying they are unemployed.
