However, while most things were told to players from the get-go, The Sims team decided to keep them in the dark when it came to some features. One of these is the secret dreadhorse cavern. Unfortunately, finding said cave can be rather tricky, especially if you don’t know where to look.

Where Are The Dreadhorse Caverns?

The secret cave of the Sims 4 Horse Range expansion, fittingly named Dreadhorse Caverns, is located in the Galloping Gulch neighborhood. While traveling to any of the three lots will be fine, Canyon Crossing, which has Gooseman's residence, is recommended as it’s the closest.

From the Gooseman’s residence, the next thing to do is to locate a bridge made of rocks on the edge of the lot. Once it’s found, look at the area beneath it and the entrance to the secret cave will be visible, shrouded by two big trees. When looking at it from the Gooseman’s residence, the exact direction players have to look is to the right of the bridge as shown in the image above.

To have your Sim explore the cave, you have to interact with it by clicking it and then directing your Sim to enter.

What To Expect From The Dreadhorse Caverns

Now that you know how to find the secret Dreadhorse Caverns Cave in the Sims 4, it’s very likely that you might want to know what you can expect inside of it. Well, while the gameplay switches to something resembling what the Werewolf Pack brought, the biggest difference is the addition of turn-based combat.

What Encounters Can You Come Across?

In the text-based mini-game, players come across various types of enemies like bats, spiders, and even bears. Every time, players can either choose to attack or defend to deal with the encounter, with both actions having different potential consequences.

  • Going on the offensive means your Sim will attack but will also risk losing health.
  • Going on the defensive means your Sim will have a chance to regain some health.

Being defeated by an enemy doesn’t permanently kill your Sim. All it does is have your Sim leave the cavern with a "Dazed" status that lasts for a few hours.

In addition to regular enemies, there are also a handful of special enemies you’ll likely come across. These enemies can’t be defeated the usual way and require you to perform a special action or give a specific item to defeat them.

The most common special enemies you’re likely to come across are:

Enemy

Special Requirement

Wild T-Rex

Each offense requires one Red Meat.

Mysterious Challenger

Each round sacrifices $100

The Flaming Skull

Each offense requires one Grape Nectar glass.

The Headless Rider

Each offense requires one Energy Nectar glass.

In addition to enemies, some floors might contain riddles or require specific actions from you if you want to move forward.

  • If you come across a door with “Speak Baa and Enter” on it, you have to put a Mini Sheep in your Sims’ inventory and the door will open.
  • If you come across The Inferno then you have to give it a glass of water.
  • If you’re told to appease the Gnome then you have to give it a cup of coffee.
  • If you come across a giant Goose then you have to give it Prairie Grass.

Finally, it’s worth noting that if the floor you reach has either a treasure chest or mining rocks, then things will be up to RNG. You’ll either be rewarded with goodies or be forced to leave the cave.

You can only enter the cavern once a day. This means that if you leave, whether by will or not, you’ll have to wait for the next day to explore the cavern further.

Levelling Up The Caverns

As you defeat enemies and clear encounters, you’ll earn a specific amount of points. Collect 100 points and you’ll level the cavern up. While most enemies reward you with 25 points when they’re defeated, some can potentially give you more. Therefore, it’s safe to assume that you’ll have to defeat four enemies to level up the cave most of the time.

Dreadhorse Caverns Rewards

Common rewards for Dreadhorse caverns include small amounts of Simoleons, bottles of Nectar, and random crops.

However, it’s important to note that the higher the level you reach the more likely it is that you’ll find something rare like a rare fish, or even a rare gem.
