The Sims 4 lets you build your dream house or storefront, with a variety of lot types to choose from. In previous Sims games, you were able to lay down lots in a town, but in The Sims 4, there are preset lots that you can tweak and build on.

Lot traits influence how Sims feel and act when visiting a lot in The Sims 4. Here, you can learn about each lot trait available in the game.
PostsAlthough these lot locations are static, you'll still be able to choose from a variety of types. In this guide, we are going to look at every lot type available in The Sims 4. This will include base game lots, as well as ones that unlock with certain expansions to the game.
Residential Vs. Community Lots
First and foremost, it's important to note that lots have two main categories; residential and community. These are pretty self-explanatory. Residential lots are where your Sims live, while community lots are where Sims gather.
A community lot can have a bed, but there is no family that lives on the property. Overall, just consider community lots as anything besides residences.
Every Residential Lot Type
Now, let's look at all residential lots in The Sims 4. It's important to note that the base game just has the standard 'Residential' lot; there are no other types that you can choose from. As such, this list below will mainly highlight expansion lots, including the pack and specifications.

This functions like a customizable apartment complex, separate from the apartment type listed above.
Every Community Lot Type
There are quite a few more community lots in the base game of The Sims 4, so let's go over these first before diving into the DLC lots.
