Long gone, it seems, are the days of terrifying midnight sound effects and cartoonish striped shirts for Criminals in The Sims 4 – nowadays, these once-cat burglars have graduated to some serious crime, covering dastardly deeds ranging from hackings to robberies. And when there’s danger involved at work, there’s also a good amount of money in your paycheck, too.

The Sims 4 Criminal career features two unique job branches that allow you to indulge in either cyber-crimes or becoming a real-life menace through the dark of night. Below, we’ve broken down both tracks of the Criminal career in The Sims 4.

Criminal Career Overview

Be The Boss Or The Brains: Choose Between The Boss Path Or The Oracle Path

When you're looking into the Criminal underworld of The Sims 4, in a game that lets you be anything, it's no surprise that you're able to choose from two powerful, quite lucrative career paths in the Criminal career!

You'll be in the general Criminal career branch until choosing a specialty after the promotion to Level 6, at which point you're able to decide between becoming:

  • The Boss, in charge of the entire Criminal operation, with job titles gradually getting you closer to being the ringleader of the whole thing.
    • With so many people falling in line under you, you'll need to master the Mischief skill, and prove to be quite Handy to the team.
  • The Oracle, who's focused far more on the technological side of criminality, their attention focused on hacking.
    • Still with a mind for Mischief, Oracles are more centered at their desks with their Programming skill.

Regardless of where your Sim falls in terms of criminal interests, there's plenty of money to be made in the career for those most mischievous. You don't start off raking in cash, but the upper levels of The Sims 4 Criminal career offer some of the highest-paying salaries in the game.

Helpful Traits For The Criminal Career

The most helpful traits for your Criminal Sim in The Sims 4 will vary, depending on the career branch you intend to choose when the time comes.

If you're angling to become The Boss, you'll want a focus on all things Mischief, making Evil or Mean great picks. These traits allow your Sim to feel genuine joy after being cruel to others, and what feels more appropriate for a top-tier criminal.

Meanwhile, with a sharper focus on programming and computers, in addition to the Mischief-centric traits required of Criminals, future Oracles with the Genius trait can make Programming come a bit more naturally to them.

Overall, since there's quite a fair amount of socialization required in building the Mischief skill, you'll do well to give your Sims social traits that allow them to reap additional benefits from the necessary time interacting.
