Red Barrels games has finally come out with a new mode for people to try. Program Omega is a limited-time, end-game Program the developers have put out. If you thought Program X was challenging, look no further.
Program Omega was released in Early Access as a Limited Time event in order for the developers to experiment.
Information in this article is subject to change.
How To Unlock Program Omega
Similarly to Program X, you need to have completed all the previous Programs from 1-3 to be able to unlock Program Omega. While you can solo your entire journey through The Outlast Trials, your solo run will stop here.
We have guides detailing how to progress through all Programs:
► Program 1: Police Station
► Program 2: Fun Park
► Program 3: Orphanage
► Program X
Program Omega must be completed in a group. You cannot play Program Omega without one. You may think playing in a group is easier than playing solo, but this is a new tactic to make things all the more challenging.
Program Omega Basics
Just like with Program X, Program Omega will allow you to replay all the previous trials but with harder difficulty. There will be tons of different stakes and challenging tags per trial in Omega. One challenge that stays the same throughout each is Stay Together.
Developers suggest you should at least be level 20+ before starting Program Omega. Regardless, you are still able to play it if you are low-level.
A group is required to play Program Omega because the tag 'Stay Together' makes it so that you will die if you are not near your teammates. This is the biggest challenge. If you wander too far from your friends, you will start receiving damage until you are downed.
Stay Together makes surviving chases much harder. Communication and teamwork are vital for success in Program Omega.
The only way to succeed, apart from teamwork, is to understand each trial in and out. The previous Programs will have helped you practice the ins and out of each map and each mission.

How Program Omega Is Different
What makes Program Omega so different from the previous Programs? All the trials in Program X were anywhere from two to five times as hard as the original trials. The last trial in Program X is six times as hard. For Program Omega, every single trial is six times as hard as their originals.
For half of the trials in Program Omega, you will not be able touse any Rigs. This is detrimental to many people's playstyle as Rigs are one of the only ways to defend yourself against enemies.
Program X only had a few trials with Deadly Prime Assets that one-shot you. Every single trial in Program Omega will have Prime Assets that one-shot. This is the real deal. Not only must you stay with your teammates to not die, but if a Prime Asset finds one of you, it's game over.

How To Survive Program Omega
Unfortunately, using Group Finder as a solo player is probably the worst thing you can do for this Program. Teamwork is important for every Program, but the fact that you start losing health when not near teammates really encourages communication.
If you don't have a group of friends to play with, it is wise to use Voice Chat or call-outs in-game. Nothing will get done if you don't know what your partners are doing and why. Distractions and last-minute decisions need to be communicated.
If you prefer not to use a microphone in-game, The Outlast Trials has the option to ping automatic voice lines from a radial wheel, with voice lines such as "Group Up" or "Help."
To activate the voice comms wheel, hold down the middle mouse button on mouse or up on the D-pad on controller.
Memorize Every Map's Layout
No longer can you rely on losing chase or having a friend take blows. Memorizing shortcuts and hiding places will allow you to complete objectives faster and not aggro an enemy.
For example, in Police Station Kill The Snitch, there will be a co-op wall once you enter the station. You should allow someone to hop over the wall and turn right to unlock a door from their side. This is a shortcut for the rest of the team to meet and go straight to the security room. It avoids the broken glass in the halls, potential enemies, and trap doors.
Memorize Every Task Objective
In Orphanage Feed The Children, you have to find bottles of bleach. There will be signs in the cafeteria saying something like two bottles this way and two bottles that way. You should always know where to be going. If you don't, replay other Programs until you are confident enough.
When you know where shortcuts are and know what you need to be doing at all times, it maximizes efficiency and your ability to complete objectives quickly so that you don't have to deal with enemies for too long.
Since you might not be able to use a Rig, you should definitely upgrade and purchase Amps and Prescriptions in the Sleep Room. While Rigs may sometimes get disabled during trials, Amps, and Prescriptions won't.
Lastly, make sure you are escaping chases by using hidespots and dark areas. You can't sprint away from your teammates or you will slowly die (due to the challenge Stay Together), so if you and your teammates can't follow each other efficiently, you must all make sure to use passive ways to end chase.
