Who's the imposter?
PostsHowever, Dampe doesn't know the exact names for the monsters he's looking for. He'll give you a vague description of what he needs, and it's up to you to find the right one. We'll help you sort out which echoes you need so you can start crafting!
Where To Find Automaton Engineer Dampe
To find Dampe, head east from the Hyrule Ranch. He'll be wandering around the fields chasing after a crow that stole from him. You'll need to defeat the crow in the tree to retrieve Dampe's belongings and continue with the quest.
Grateful for your assistance, Dampe tells you where to find his secret workshop. If you meet him there, he'll offer you a shiny new reward.
Dampe marks the location of his workshop on your map since it's out of the way.
Meet Dampe at his workshop, where he'll tell you all about the automatons he creates. However, he needs to have inspiration to help craft these machines. Using your echoes, you can show him all sorts of monsters to give him that spark he needs.
For your first automaton, you'll need to bring him two things:
- A creature with the big eye–the sort that's always jumping around.
- Something that shoots hot smoke out of its backside to blast forward.
The two echoes you'll need are Tektite and Mothula!
Once you've learned the echoes, summon them on the metal platform within Dampe's Studio. After he examines both, he'll get to work right away on his latest automaton.
You'll unlock the Techtite automaton, which can be used to reach new heights and knock enemies back when wound up.
Automatons need to be wound up before they can be used, and they won't work forever.
If they break, bring them back to Dampe to repair them with rupees or monster stones!
After you unlock this automaton, you can read Dampe's notebook on the table for more ideas. There are several other automatons you can craft if you read through the journal.
Explosions Galore Quest
When you read Dampe's notebook, he mentions a machine that produces explosions. You'll need to bring him the following:
- A creature that spits stones out of its mouth.
- A firework that whooshes into the air.
To create this automaton, you'll need to complete The Fireworks Artist quest after restoring the rift on Eldin Volcano. This will allow you to learn the Firework echo. You'll also need to place down any Octorok echo.
After a moment, Dampe will create the Tocktorock automaton for you to use. You can use it to launch fireworks at monsters.
Don't worry! While the fireworks explode, they won't damage Zelda.
Performance Artist Quest
When reading Dampe's journal, you can start the Performance Artist quest. Here, Dampe wants to create a musical machination. He needs you to bring him the following:
- A jiggly monster with cute little eyes.
- A part that makes beautiful tones.
The first part requires any Zol monster, as they are small and squishy. They can be found in most regions, but you'll have the best luck right outside Dampe's Studio in the small clearing to the west.
For the second part, you'll need to complete both the short and medium races at Hyrule Ranch. This will reward you with the Prismatic Music Box. Hand it to Dampe in his workshop once you have it.
Putting these two items together creates the Gizmol automaton. This cute little automaton sings and dances. The song will scatter nearby enemies so you can focus on one at a time.
Endless Stomach Quest
Dampe's journal details an automaton with an endless stomach, and starting this quest begins the search for the right parts. Dampe requires two things:
- A creature that swallows things whole with its massive jaws.
- A special part that can strengthen its ability to clamp down.
The echo you'll need can be found in the Faron Wetlands. Find and defeat a Deku Baba level two plant and learn the echo, showing it to Dampe once you have it.
As for the special part, you'll need to complete the Acorn Gathering minigame west of Hyrule Ranch. You'll need to be quick to get the speedy reward, which is a Steel Trap!
Putting these items together creates the High-Teku Baba automaton. This mechanical snapping plant will eat enemies whole, saving you some time in combat.
Chop 'Em Down Quest
The third entry in Dampe's notebook details a fierce fighting automaton. You'll need the following materials:
- A monster with a sword who fights alongside others.
- A special weapon.
The monster with a sword can be any Boarblin or Moblin with a sword. They can be found in most regions, and you've likely collected at least one.
To get the special weapon, you'll need to complete six challenges at the Dream Dojo in Kakariko village to obtain the heirloom katana. When combined, Dampe gives you the Roboblin automaton.
This automaton can slice through almost any enemy with incredible range!
Get Rick Quick Quest
This automaton is only unlocked after you've completed all of Dampe's other quests.
As the final automaton and pinnacle of Dampe's work, you'll enjoy the irony of this creation. To get revenge on that pesky crow, Dampe intends to transform it into a rupee-stealing machination.
To create this automaton, you'll need to bring Dampe a crow and the Golden Fan from playing the Mango Rush minigame. After complete the first two challenges in the oasis, you'll receive the fan as a reward.
Put them together to create Goldfinch, which knock even more rupees out of enemies and monsters!
