Amorphous Materials are earned in a variety of ways in The First Descendant, usually from completing Special Operations, missions, and other repeatable content. Once you've managed to unlock an Amorphous Material, the rewards inside are randomized - based on an RNG system. The rarer the item, the lower chance of unlocking it.

But how do you actually open them? You'll need to check the Amorphous Material for its corresponding Void Intercept battle. At the end of the fight - providing you are victorious - you'll get access to a machine that lets you open them. If you don't get what you wanted, you'll need to go and collect another Amorphous Material and then defeat the boss again. Welcome to the grind.

How To Open Amorphous Material

Once you've acquired an Amorphous Material from a mission, you will need to defeat the linked Void Intercept battle to be able to open it. You can check which material is linked to which boss via the Void Intercept menu in Albion.

Defeating the boss will unlock the Reconstructed Device which will allow you to open the material and try to get some of the resources inside. This can include things like Descendant code for researching different characters, weapon blueprints, and other recipes for research.

How To Farm Amorphous Material

One of the key things about Amorphous Material is that this is where you'll get the required materials and recipes to research new Descendants.

Head to Anais in Albion and open up the research menu. Choose the Descendant you want to research and then find out which Amorphous Materials you'll need. Hit F on your keyboard for a detailed overview of where you can find the required materials, usually in a Special Operation or Infiltration mission. These can be repeatedly farmed to try and acquire the Amorphous Material.

However, you'll also need to farm Amorphous Materials to get weapon blueprints and weapon part blueprints.

Because it's tricky to grind for Descendants, it's a good idea to focus on just one Descendant at a time - this allows you to farm for their code, weapons, and modules one by one.
