If there is anything that The Witcher 3 might teach you, it would be that messing around ancient ruins is a terrible, terrible idea. Such ruins almost certainly anchor the restless spirits of the dead that are just itching for an excuse to vent their centuries-old frustrations on the first being to draw their ire.

The treasure hunt Don't Play With The Gods exemplifies this by having Geralt stumble across some thieves who stole some silver from an ancient temple before lingering in the area. The Gods did not wait long, killing them and leaving their loot for you to collect.

Where To Start Treasure Hunt: Don't Play With The Gods

This quest can be difficult to reach, being far off the beaten track between Byways and Duén Hen. Once you are roughly between either location, you will have to go east until you reach a ruin populated with wraiths.

Try to Fast Travel to Duén Hen if possible. If you have not completed The Mystery of the Byways Murders,Byways will be populated by high-level ghouls.

You will have to purge the area of wraiths to reach the treasure. Expect a difficult fight thanks to their numbers and ability to turn incorporeal.

The wraiths may be difficult to remove. If you are struggling make liberal use of Moon Dust bombs and Yrden to force them into their vulnerable state. The Reliever's decoction will also be particularly helpful.

Once you have killed the enemies, look for a body slumped against the stairs. The letter and key needed for the quest are found on it.

Finding The Chest

You will not have to look far to reunite the key with the chest. It is just up the stairs, behind some barrels. You can use Geralt's Witcher Senses to highlight the chest if you are struggling to find it.

Unfortunately, the chest is also accompanied by a noonwraith or nightwraith, depending on when you arrive at the ruins. You will have to defeat it, too, before you can take your prize.
