Soul Calibur 7 Is Seemingly Being Teased By Reliable Insider For The Next Nintendo Direct

For a bit, rumors have been swirling about an unannounced Nintendo Direct. After all, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has yet to receive a release date, despite constant assurances that it'll come in 2025. Those rumors picked up a bit of steam on Saturday, when a reliable leaker teased that the next Nintendo presentation would have three games, all featuring the number 7.
Naturally, that led gamers to immediately consider Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Dragon Quest 7, games that have been rumored or confirmed to be coming to the Nintendo Switch. However, in a rather interesting twist, the insider, SwitchForce, has come out to say that "not a soul" has guessed the titles correctly.
The word "soul" is doing a whole lot of heavy lifting, leading some to think it might be in reference to a dormant franchise, Soul Calibur.
As Far As Relationships Go, Soul Calibur And Nintendo Go Way Back
For those who might've forgotten, the last Soul Calibur game to release was … Soul Calibur 6, which was released way back in 2018, making a new title, well, Soul Calibur 7.
The trail of bread crumbs doesn't quite stop there, either. Back in April, when Nintendo revealed that GameCube games would be coming to Switch 2 via Nintendo Switch Online, one of the first confirmations was … Soul Calibur 2. Lest we all also forget that Soul Calibur 2 famously included Link as a guest character on the GameCube version of the game.
Would Link make a return in Soul Calibur 7? That wouldn't be too far-fetched given the franchise's history on GameCube. Perhaps we, along with every other commenter on Reddit, are completely wrong, but there aren't too many games featuring the word "Soul" and in need of a "7."
Sorry, Dark Souls 7 doesn't count.
