Summary

  • Sly Cooper is experiencing something of a resurgence, and Youtooz plans to capitalize on that via a new figure.
  • The brand's director revealed Sly 2 is their favorite game, sharing the design for an upcoming Youtooz figure.
  • It'll be a while before the artwork becomes a reality, but there's a Sly Cooper Youtooz figure coming, eventually.

Sly Cooper stepping back into the spotlight was not something I had on my 2024 video game bingo card, but I'm very glad it has. Sucker Punch's platforming raccoon reminded everyone he still exists when his first game was added to PS Plus Premium earlier this month. Now Youtooz's director has revealed the figure makers plan to ride the wave of Sly Cooper momentum by releasing its first-ever design based on the iconic video game character.

Kyle Sparks, the director of brand at Youtooz, shared an image of what Sly Cooper's first figure will hopefully look like on social media. Just concept art for now, but Sparks confirmed that this is an official project and the figure is coming, and not just a fun idea he's thrown out to the fandom because he's a part of it. Sparks notes that Sly 2: Band Of Thieves is his favorite game ever, so turning Cooper into a Youtooz figure is likely something they've been trying to make happen for a while.

PlayStation has been criticized somewhat in the two years since it restructured PS Plus for not giving people what they want, particularly when it comes to the Premium tier. Suffice to say, Sly Cooper is definitely what subscribers, and probably quite a few potential new subscribers, want. The Thievius Raccoonus quickly became the most-played new addition in Premium's history, and the series being acknowledged on this level for the first time in years has got people clamoring for the Cooper name to be properly revived.

Let The World Know We Want More Sly

It's impossible to say whether PlayStation has even considered a brand new Sly Cooper game, let alone if it has one in the works. Hard to imagine PlayStation wants Sucker Punch working on anything other than a Ghost Of Tsushima sequel right now. However, between news that the Crash N.Sane Trilogy has sold 20 million copies, and the hype for Astro Bot's release later this year, maybe PlayStation and other studios will give platforming mascots old and new more consideration when figuring out what to do next.

There are ways to let Sucker Punch and PlayStation know we want more Sly Cooper, and clearly those with PS Plus Premium are already doing that. Another way is to buy Sly Cooper Youtooz in our droves once the concept becomes a reality. Sly also has his own Funko Pop, however, it's not readily available anymore and paying $130 for it from a third-party seller on Amazon won't help convince PlayStation to give Sly more attention. Wait for the Youtooz figure and we'll all buy it together.
