While nothing will be too complex in your horror adventure, there will be moments where you may get lost in what to do next or how to progress the mission, which can happen as early as the game's first mission. Lurking Parasite is a prime example of this, but it's not too bad once you adapt to the uniqueness that is Slitterhead.

Starting Lurking Parasite In Slitterhead

Lurking Parasite is the first mission in Slitterhead after its lengthy introduction, having you control Julee from the jump, which is the only Rarity you will have access to at the moment. She's quick, can deal substantial damage, and can top her health off with her Revive All Skill, making her the perfect first Rarity.

Investigate The Scene Of The Attack

After making your way to the main street, you will be tasked with gathering information on the attack. Here, you will be able to talk to several people, all of whom will essentially tell you to leave them alone. However, moving eastward toward the end of the street, you will run into a couple of City Dwellers carrying out a conversation.

Eavesdrop on the City Dwellers' conversation to gather some information on a missing person, allowing you to move into the alleyway directly to their right. Once you're here, use Blood Jump to reach the elevated clothesline, then leap down and continue following the waypoint.

Jump over the gate and continue following the marker until you reach a Necklace lying on the ground in the back alley. Inspect the Necklace to get a bit more information, pointing you to a woman standing outside the Brothel, your next destination.

Head To The Brothel

From here, head back to the main street, walk toward the Brothel, and speak with the Shop Girl. She will be the woman wearing a red top, smoking a cigarette. She will essentially tell Julee she's not interested in talking to her about the Necklace because you have nothing to offer.

Your next step is going to be to possess a random guy on the street and bring them to the Shop Girl to speak to her with them, having her open up about the Necklace. After speaking with the Shop Girl, you will meet back up with Julee, with your next task being to get behind the Brothel.

Do you remember where the couple of City Dwellers were earlier? Make your way back to that area and head down the same alleyway. Once here, Blood Jump back onto the clothesline, turn around, and then leap over the tall gate on the left to quickly get behind the Brothel. Interact with the door to trigger a brief cutscene.

Investigate The Rooftop

When the cutscene finishes, you will be positioned looking directly at another clothesline you can Blood Jump to, use it, and then jump onto the rooftop beside it. From here, leap onto the balcony directly across from you, then climb up a series of platforms to reach the top of the Brothel.

There will be a waypoint guiding you across the rooftops; follow it, and you will eventually arrive on top of the Brothel, where you will stumble upon a corpse that was disposed of in the dumpster. Examine the corpse to get a lead on where the Slitterhead is, getting closer to some action!

Find The Slitterhead

With a faint Aura of the Slitterhead detected you can now track it down, allowing you to find where it's hiding. To do this, you must follow the Blue Aura that pops up on your screen, moving in the direction it emanates from on your screen. You can also press Square/X to use Sight Jack and see its point of view.

You will eventually find it in the back alley leaning against the wall, disguising itself as a woman in a pink top, smoking a cigarette, and talking to a guy in a blue shirt. Once you pinpoint the Slitterhead's position, approach it and Splatter Blood on it to reveal its true self.

Chase The Slitterhead

Splattering the Slitterhead with Blood will cause it to shift into its true form and attempt to flee from the scene, forcing you to run after it. It will attempt to throw boxes down in front of you to trip you up, so be mindful of them and avoid them by moving to the left or right.

Once you get close to the Slitterhead, use your Blood Ripper Skill to temporarily slow its movement, allowing you to gain ground on it and land several hits on it with your Blood Weapon. This chase will take a bit of time to finish, so constantly switch to other NPCs when your health gets low and continually use Blood Ripper when in range.

Defeat The Orchid Mantis Slitterhead

Whittling the fleeing Slitterhead's health down quite a bit will have it eventually run into the main street and transform into a massive Orchid Mantis Slitterhead that looks far more daunting than it actually is. This is the first real mission, after all. Utilizing Julee's Revive All and Sonic Claws will be vital to ending this fight quickly.

Additionally, parrying its attacks won't be too challenging, as they are super telegraphed and are typically coming from the top right or top left, allowing you to easily get the timing and execution down to trigger Blood Time to temporarily halt time, allowing you to unleash many uncontested attacks on the beast.

If you're getting overwhelmed, don't forget to switch to nearby NPCs to give Julee a breather and pull the Orchid Mantis Slitterhead's focus off her. Once it's focused on them, you can switch back to Julee and top her health up with her Revive All Skill or by absorbing the Blood on the ground by holding R1/RB.

Lurking Parasite Rewards

Upon completing Lurking Parasite for the first time, you will receive Seven Skill Tokens, allowing you to upgrade Julee's Blood Weapon, Active Skills, or Passive Skills, so place spend them wherever you see fit. There's really no wrong answer this early on. However, we do recommend focusing on her Active Skills first!

Before you do that, though, be sure to listen to all 'Talk' dialogue choices immediately after completing the mission, as this is how you will unlock new missions and can even obtain hints that can eventually lead to unlocking new Rarities. Always exhaust all Talk options after you finish a mission before doing anything else!
