There Are Seven Heroes With Different Skill Sets
In Silent Hope, the Princess tells you about the seven lights she saw ascend from the Abyss, which turn out to be the seven individual heroes you'll play as for the rest of the game.
Though each hero works together toward the game's goal, every one of the heroes has their own combat style, covering everything from melee to ranged or physical to magic.
However, with different specialties leading to unique stats for each hero, you'll quickly find favorites among the group. For each stat a hero has that's lower than average, they'll make up with it with a different stat that's above average.
Stats can be tweaked in any number of ways - equipment, accessories, class, Magistones, etc. - for a temporary period, but be sure to check your heroes' stats before bringing them into battle.
Wanderer
Labeled as being a good all-around choice with a fairly level offense and defense, the Wanderer is the character who takes over a workshop when other heroes are in battle. They fight with a sword and shield.
Though not particularly powerful, evasive, or good at landing crits, the Wanderer certainly redeems himself with a high base HP and decent defense.

All their stats increase when changing to the Adventurer after Level 15, but the shift to the Drifter after finishing the main story sees a decrease in HP, crit, and evasion in exchange for better power, defense, and magic resistance.
Rogue
One of the faster heroes at your disposal, the Rogue is a fast-moving girl who attacks foes up close using dual blades.
Though her actual power and defense are somewhat low, she more than makes up for this with plenty of HP to complement her high crit and evasion stats.

An example of brute force if ever your hero team needed one, the Warrior attacks foes with two-handed swords that render her a bit slower to attack, but more powerful when she does.
WIth a colossal HP pool complemented by great power stat, the Warrior is a bit weaker in magic resistance, crit, and evasion.

Farmer
Though definitely one of the physically weaker heroes, the Farmer's use comes predominantly in her intriguing skills rather than from her pitchfork or other spear-like object.
Though her magic resistance and evasion are pretty good, her HP, power, defense, and crit are all lower than the other heroes.

A melee fighter who prefers to settle things with her fists, the Fighter is a powerful melee fighter whose strength is her strong suit.
With a high power and crit rate, the fighter and her raw strength lack a bit with lower HP, defense, and evasion than other heroes.

Caster
While not the most powerful of the seven in terms of sheer might, the Caster is a ranged fighter who exclusively deals magic damage instead of physical by casting spells.
Outside a low HP, he's got great defense and magic resistance, despite not being very physically strong. Rely on his skills to output higher damage.
