Sand Land may start off fairly simple, but there are a lot of options and tricks hiding under the hood. As Beelzebub's journey unlocks more vehicles and powers, it becomes important to have the right tactics for every situation.

Is Sand Land Related To Dragon Ball Z?

Sand Land has all of the classic Akira Toriyama hallmarks, but does this unique manga, anime, and upcoming game relate to Dragon Ball Z?

The game gets harder in the second half, so learning these tricks early on will make it a lot easier to adapt. When enemies are more numerous and aggressive, you'll be glad to have the skills you need to survive any encounter while you explore Sand Land's vast anime world.

Punch Trees (And Cacti)

Withered trees are a common sight in Sand Land's dry climate. The game doesn't tell you this right away, but destroying trees yields crafting materials that you'll be able to use later. The sooner you start harvesting them, either with a quick punch on foot or a burst of gunfire from your vehicle, the more you'll have ready to go when crafting becomes available.

The same goes for cacti and ore deposits. The latter are always indicated on the minimap with green dots, so take the time to gather them when you see them!

Your Companions Share Skill Points

Each time Beelzebub levels up, he gains Skill Points (SP) which can be used to unlock new powers. At the same time, Skill Points are given to your companions to make them more helpful during your journey.

However, unlocking new skills for your companions takes SP from a common pool; if you spend SP on Rao, those points won't be available for Thief, and vice versa. You'll eventually be able to get every power that you want, but early on you'll have to choose which upgrades you really need.

You Can Instantly Swap Vehicles

If you need to change to a different vehicle, you don't need to dismount from your current ride. Simply select the new vehicle, and you'll find yourself in the driver's seat ready to go.

The switch still takes about a second or two, during which you won't be able to move. Your new vehicle may take damage if you try this mid-combat, but it can be worth it for access to better weapons or maneuverability.

Enemy Vehicles Drop The Best Loot

You don't necessarily need to take out every single Raptor that you see while traveling, but enemy vehicles are always worth hunting down. If you pass by a bandit camp or Royal Army patrol, blast their tanks and collect the scrap.

Vehicles drop more advanced materials than wildlife or humans, and will occasionally even drop an intact Part that you can install in one of your own rides.

Unlike materials, Parts aren't automatically collected; you need to interact with them to add them to your inventory. Make sure you don't leave anything behind!

Materials Need To Be Refined

Every enemy drops some kind of crafting material, and you'll collect plenty more from ore veins and other sources. These aren't enough to make and upgrade the best Parts, though; advanced crafting materials are made by combining raw materials at a Craftsman's Shop.

The first Craftsman you're likely to meet lives at the Junker Camp, and one will eventually move to Spino as well. Many raw materials are used in multiple recipes, so plan out the goods you need ahead of time by visiting the Garage and checking upgrade requirements.

Tanks Take Fall Damage

Beelzebub can fall from almost any height without taking damage; the same goes for agile vehicles like the Motorbike and Jump-Bot. Tanks, though, aren't designed for that kind of treatment. If you drive off a ledge in a tank, either accidentally or as part of a shortcut, the vehicle will take significant damage on impact. Dismount or switch to the Jump-Bot before taking the plunge to avoid this.

Double-jumping in the middle of a fall while on foot can save you from any potential damage you might have taken.
