It's time to d-d-d-d-d-battle with Aether Spirits.

Posts

While the adrenaline of neck-and-neck Aether Spirit battles offers its own high, it's the rewards that make the challenges truly worth it. Emerge victorious and collect valuable Aether Spirit Upgrade Data and Expansion Chips, along with exclusive rewards like the Warp Trotter Speech Bubble that will serve as an (adorable) badge of honor.

How to Unlock Hyperlink Matches

Before you can access the Hyperlink Matches, you’ll need to clear the Corridor of Fading Echoes Victory Zone. Once this initial Victory Zone is conquered, Hyperlink Matches will automatically become available.

You can access Hyperlink matches on the Aetherium Wars hub screen, right next to the Victory Zone tab. Alternatively, use the Aetherium Wars Player Terminal at the Old Weapon Testing Ground.

How to Defeat Purple Light Level Players

How To Defeat Wen Shiling

Wen Shiling, your first opponent in the Hyperlink Matches, leads with a mix of level two Incineration Shadewalkers (Aberrant type) and Silvermane Gunners (Humanoid type).

  • Equip your Aether Spirits with Expansion Chips and ensure they're at least level two. Start by focusing on the Silvermane Soldiers due to their vulnerability to Aberrant types. After dispatching them, shift your attention to the Incineration Shadewalkers to close out the match.

Aether Spirits come in three types: Aberrants, Humanoids, and Mechanical. Their interactions resemble a rock-paper-scissors dynamic. While building teams and in battles, an in-game reference guide will always be available to clarify these relationships. Remember: Aether Spirits deal 1.5x damage to weaker types and just 0.8x to those they're disadvantaged against.

How To Defeat Julian

Julian presents a team made up entirely of level three Incineration Shadewalkers (Aberrant type).

  • Defeating Julian is fairly simple as his entire squad comprises defensive Aether Spirits. Simply use any combination of attackers to take his team down, while using your Warp Trotter’s healing to offset whatever minimal damage Julian's team inflicts.

How To Defeat Dunn

Dunn embodies the Silvermane spirit with a lineup of one Level three Silvermane Soldier (Humanoid type), two Level three Silvermane Cannoneers (Humanoid type), and a Level three Incineration Shadewalker (Aberrant type).

  • Dunn's lineup heavily favors Humanoid Aether Spirits, making your Aberrant Aether Spirits the perfect counter.
  • When the battle begins, target Dunn’s Cannoneers first, as they can launch surprisingly effective follow-up attacks to support their ally's assault.

How To Defeat Oleg

Oleg, your final obstacle in the Purple Light Level, showcases a lineup including the Level three Entranced Ingenium: Obedient Dracolion and Illumination Dragonfish (both Mechanical type), paired with a Level three Blaze Out of Space and Incineration Shadewalker (both Aberrant type).

  • Bring in Humanoid characters like the Silvermane Cannoneer to quickly deal with the Illumination Dragonfish before it applies too much DoT.
  • Taking down the Illumination Dragonfish not only mitigates a significant threat but can also inflict collateral damage on Oleg’s other Aether Spirits as it detonates upon defeat.
  • If you’re in no rush, deploying the Silvermane Lieutenant as your Overlord Aether Spirit can be a strategic move. While its damage against Oleg’s Blaze Out of Space might be reduced, the shields it offers, in tandem with the healing from your Warp Trotter, will ensure your team’s survival.

Each Light Level that you clear will also complete the respective ‘Hyperlink Match’ task in the Rating Rewards screen, which will reward you with 40 Relic Remains and 30000 Credits.

How to Defeat Blue Light Level Players

How To Defeat Natasha

In the Blue Light Level, your first opponent is Natasha, the leader of Wildfire. She leads with four Level three Imaginary Weavers (Aberrant type).

  • Each Imaginary Weaver attacks twice in their initial turn, cumulatively launching a formidable eight attacks on your team.
  • The Imaginary Weavers also possess a potent Ultimate capable of inflicting high single-target damage. Therefore, prioritize immediate healing for any Aether Spirits at low health.
  • To win this fight, leverage the Mechanical type Aether Spirits you obtained from the Cloudford Victory Zone.

In challenging battles, your Warp Trotter can often be a game-changer. Since many opponents lack reliable healing, your Warp Trotter provides you with a unique edge with its steady recovery capabilities.

How To Defeat Clara

Clara fields two level four Automaton Spiders (Mechanical type), a level four Silvermane Gunner (Humanoid Type), and a level four Automaton Direwolf (Mechanical type).

  • Because Clara’s team is mostly Mechanical, you can deploy Humanoid Aether Spirits like the Silvermane Gunner and Silvermane Lieutenant for a smooth match.
  • If you're unsure about the durability of your team yet, your primary concern should be the Automaton Spiders. Address them first to negate their Self-Destruct skill. Next, target the Silvermane Gunner, followed by the Automaton Direwolf.

How To Defeat Gepard

Gepard employs a staunch defensive strategy. He brings in a team of three level four Silvermane Cannoneers and a level fourSilvermane Lieutenant (all Humanoid type).

  • The Silvermane Cannoneers' ability to launch follow-up attacks after every ally’s action makes it crucial that you target them first. With them gone, handling the Silvermane Lieutenant becomes a much more manageable task.
  • Rely on the Warp Trotter for healing to counteract the Lieutenant's damage.
  • For an edge in this battle, deploy Aberrant type Aether Spirits, given Gepard's exclusive use of Humanoid types.

How To Defeat Lynx

The final Blue Light opponent Lynx comes in swinging to take revenge for her brother Gepard. She enlists a team consisting of two level four Entranced Ingenium: Illumination Dragonfishes (Mechanical type),a level four Blaze Out of Space (Aberrant type), and a level four Entranced Ingenium: Obedient Dracolion (Mechanical type).

  • Begin by focusing on the Obedient Dracolion or the Illumination Dragonfishes, due to their healing and DoT stacking capabilities respectively. After they're neutralized, shift your attention to the Blaze Out of Space.
  • For an optimal lineup, deploy Mechanical type Aether Spirits. They take neutral damage from Lynx’s Mechanical types and gain an edge against her Aberrant type Overlord Aether Spirit.
  • You should also equip the Deep Clean Chip to counter her team's reliance on DoT by clearing debuffs.

How To Defeat Green Light Players

How To Defeat Arlan

The first foe of the Green Light Level is Arlan, who fields a uniform lineup: four level four Voidranger: Eliminators (all Aberrant type).

  • Given the Eliminators' ability to make multiple attacks, leverage the Aurumaton Gatekeeper to regularly impair them.
  • Equipping the Saturated Activation Chip on your Gatekeeper ensures you can immediately harness both its Skill and its Ultimate from the first turn, allowing you to diminish the damage output of Arlan’s Eliminators with 'Weaken', whilst also delaying their actions via 'Imprison'.
  • Round out the rest of your lineup with Mechanical type Aether Spirits of at least Level 4. They serve as the ideal counter to Arlan's Aberrant-heavy team.

Always start by using the Aurumaton Gatekeeper's Skill, even if the Saturated Activation Chip means that its Ultimate is already available. This is because using the Ultimate grants the Gatekeeper another action. So using the Skill first, followed by the Ultimate, gives the Gatekeeper two back-to-back attacks, maximizing your turn advantage.

How To Defeat Asta

Asta uses a mix of Humanoid and Aberrant type Aether Spirits: a level five Vagrant and Silvermane Gunner (Humanoid type), flanked by a level five Voidranger: Trampler and Imaginary Weaver (Aberrant type).

  • The Voidranger: Trampler is the linchpin of Asta's strategy. Its unique talent lets it act immediately when any unit, ally or foe, is defeated. Prioritize targeting the Trampler, and then focus on dispatching the Humanoids, then the Imaginary Weaver.
  • When you're preparing for the Hyperlink Match against Asta, deploy Aberrant type Aether Spirits of at least Level 5 to counter her lineup.

How To Defeat Diting

Diting charges into the fray with an explosive lineup of four level five Automaton Spiders (all Mechanical type).

  • While this lineup might seem intimidating at a glance, the self-destruct ability of the Automaton Spiders means that you can actually get through this fight incredibly easily — provided you enter with the right Aether Spirits.
  • Arm yourself with a squad of Humanoid type Aether Spirits. The type advantage will mean the Automaton Spiders only deal 0.8x damage.
  • It’s still recommended to keep the Warp Trotter for the healing.
  • Use the Silvermane Lieutenant and Silvermane Soldier to provide shields and stat increases respectively. From there, it’s just a matter of tanking the self-destruct skill of the Automaton Spiders.

How To Defeat Yanqing

The final opponent of the Green Light Level is none other than young Xianzhou sword prodigy Yanqing. He utilizes a team of two level five Entranced Ingenium: Illumination Dragonfishes (Mechanical type), flanked by a pair of level five Abundance Sprite: Wooden Lupus (both Aberrant type).

  • The primary threat in Yanqing's lineup is the Illumination Dragonfishes due to their AoE damage and debilitating DoTs. Prioritize neutralizing these Dragonfish first, which will also deal damage to Yanqing's own allies as they explode upon defeat.
  • You can approach this fight with your own Illumination Dragonfish backed by an Aurumaton Gatekeeper for a DoT-centric strategy.
  • Being predominantly Mechanical, this will offer a balanced counter against Yanqing's lineup: they stand neutral against Yanqing's Mechanical Dragonfish and have a type advantage over his Aberrant Wooden Lupus.

How To Defeat Yellow Light Players

How To Defeat Qingque

Entering the Yellow Light Level, you’ll notice a clear increase in difficulty. Your first opponent Qingque brings in an aggressive assembly: a level six Automaton Spider (Mechanical type), a level six Automaton Direwolf (Mechanical type), and two formidable level six Aberrants — Incineration Shadewalker and Voidranger: Reaver.

  • Given Qingque's ensemble of Mechanical and Aberrant types, it's advantageous to bring both Humanoid and Mechanical Type Aether Spirits.
  • To stand the best chance, ensure your Aether Spirits are at their highest level.
  • Your immediate concern should be the Automaton Direwolf. The Lieutenant's counters, combined with the Cannoneer's follow-ups, will manage it effectively.
  • Ensuring the longevity of the Lieutenant is crucial — maintain shields using the Lieutenant's abilities or the Soldier's skill, and keep up the heals of your Entranced Ingenium - Obedient Dracolion.

If you haven’t already, speak to Barrie near the Aetherium Wars Player Terminal. If you have two Mastery Marks, Barrie will give you the Sudden Evasion Chip, which will grant any equipped character 90 percent DMG Reduction for the first few turns of a fight.

How To Defeat Peppy

As you step into the second match of the Yellow Light Level, Peppy unleashes a trio of level six Automaton Spiders (all Mechanical type) and a level six Voidranger: Trampler (Aberrant type).

  • To outsmart Peppy's pack, you'd benefit from deploying Mechanical types like the Aurumaton Gatekeeper and the Entranced Ingenium: Obedient Dracolion. This will make it so that none of Peppy’s Aether Spirits have an advantageous typing versus you.
  • For the fight itself, the logical route would be to take out as many of Peppy’s Automaton Spiders first to reduce the number of self-destructs.
  • For those daring to play fetch with danger, consider focusing fully on the Trampler instead.
  • Provided you’re able to successfully tank all three detonations, the rest of the fight should be smooth sailing.

How To Defeat Sampo

The third foe you’ll face in the Yellow Light Level is the sneaky Sampo, a seasoned strategist with a level six Entranced Ingenium: Illumination Dragonfish (Mechanical type), a level six Blaze Out of Space (Aberrant type), a level six Voidranger: Reaver (Aberrant type), and a level six Automaton Spider (Mechanical type).

  • Against Sampo's mix of Mechanical and Aberrant type Aether Spirits, a Mechanical DoT-centric team would be your best bet.
  • Start by targeting the Illumination Dragonfish to neutralize it before it can apply too much DoT.
  • Once the Dragonfish are dealt with, turn up the heat against Sampo’s Blaze Out of Space, whom your Mechanical units will have a clear edge against.
  • Like the Automaton Spiders of the past few Hyperlink Matches, Sampo’s will detonate by itself, and your widespread AoE DoTs will likely handle the remaining Reaver without any direct attention.

How To Defeat Bronya

In the Yellow Light Level's final battle, you'll face off against Bronya, the Supreme Guardian of Belobog. She enters the fray with a level six Silvermane Soldier and a level six Silvermane Gunner (both Humanoid types), accompanied by a level six Voidranger: Trampler and a level six Voidranger: Reaver (both Aberrant types).

  • Given Bronya's favored combination of Humanoid and Aberrant Aether Spirits, consider deploying powerful Aberrant units of your own, such as the Voidranger: Trampler.
  • For this challenging Hyperlink Match, focus on Bronya’s Silvermane Soldier first. Swiftly defeating it prevents the accumulation of Morale stacks, which if left unchecked, would hugely bolster the stats of all Bronya's Aether Spirits.
  • Once the Soldier is defeated, direct your firepower towards the opposing Voidranger: Trampler, as you don’t want to give it too many opportunities to unleash its highly damaging Spiral Arrow skill.

Defeating Bronya will unlock the Morale Activation Chip. This Expansion Chip accumulates Morale with every ally attack, boosting the stats of the entire team. It will be invaluable for the upcoming Red Light Level Hyperlink Matches.

How To Defeat Red Light Players

How To Defeat Welt

Kicking off the Red Light Level, you're met with Welt and his team of Mechanical type powerhouses. He commands a level six Entranced Ingenium: Illumination Dragonfish, a level six Aurumaton Gatekeeper, a Level 6 Entranced Ingenium: Obedient Dracolion (all Mechanical types), and a level six Abundance Sprite: Wooden Lupus (Aberrant type).

  • Unfortunately for Welt, his lineup does him no favors. Because he leans on Mechanical types nearly exclusively, this presents a very exploitable weakness to Humanoid type Aether Spirits.
  • Your game plan against Welt revolves around using your various Silvermane Aether Spirits in tandem with one another.
  • By synergizing the abilities of your Silvermane Lieutenant and Silvermane Cannoneer, you can unleash a powerful shield, counter, and follow-up attack sequence each time Welt attempts to make a move, ensuring your victory before his Aurumaton Gatekeeper can even activate Sanction Mode.

How To Defeat Topaz

The second Red Light Level challenger is Topaz, you'll find her wielding a diverse team that includes a level six Grunt: Security Personnel and a level six Senior Staff: Team Leader (both Humanoid types), joined by a level six Commerce Trotter (Aberrant type) and a level six Automaton Spider (Mechanical type). This lineup closely mirrors her set from the Final Showdown! Quest, save for the introduction of the Automaton Spider.

  • Given Topaz's pronounced reliance on her Humanoid IPC units, it would be wise to deploy Aberrant Aether Spirits, particularly the Voidranger: Trampler, much like your approach in the Final Showdown! Quest.
  • The unique talent of the Trampler allows them to take consecutive turns. By combining this with the Turn Advance Forward Skill of the Vagrant, you can chain multiple devastating attacks and quickly eliminate threats.
  • Your first order of strategy should be focusing on the Trotter. Once the Trotter is dealt with, shift your focus to the Grunts, followed by the Senior Staff.
  • For this fight, you can safely ignore the Automaton Spider completely.

How To Defeat Wilder

In your third Red Light Level match, you'll face Wilder who brings in a lineup of three Aberrant types: a level six Everwinter Shadewalker, a level six Blaze Out of Space, a Level 6 Incineration Shadewalker, and a level six Silvermane Gunner (Humanoid type).

  • Considering Wilder's team comprises mostly Aberrant units, a DoT-focused Mechanical type team is the recommended strategy.
  • Your Aurumaton Gatekeeper will play a dual role, impairing Wilder’s units defensively while also bolstering your offense through the summoned Illumination Dragonfish.
  • Employ potent AoE attacks to diminish the HP of Wilder’s entire team simultaneously, while targeting the Blaze Out of Space with the Aurumaton Gatekeeper’s Imprison. Throughout the battle, steadily apply DoTs to all enemies using the Dragonfish and the summoned Dragonfish from the Gatekeeper. The accumulating DoTs will eventually cause significant HP reduction on Wilder's team each turn.
  • To ensure the longevity of your team, rely on both the Trotter and the Silvermane Soldier for healing and extra stats respectively.

How To Defeat March 7th

In the climactic Red Light Level Hyperlink Match, you'll square off against March 7th. As both of you rose together through the Aetherium Wars questline, emerging as dual champions, this promises to be a legendary duel. March 7th's formidable lineup features alevel six Automaton Spider (Mechanical type) alongside a trio of Humanoids: a level six Silvermane Lieutenant, a level six Silvermane Gunner, and a level six Silvermane Cannoneer.

  • Considering the strong Humanoid presence on March 7th's roster, your best bet lies in assembling a team of maxed-out Aberrant and Humanoid units.
  • Deploy the tried-and-true Voidranger Vagrant strategy.
  • Start off as per usual by accumulating Morale stacks and setting up your Warp Trotter and Vagrant's Ultimates. With sufficient buffs in place, use the Voidranger: Trampler to effortlessly dispatch March 7th's Silvermane Gunner and Cannoneer. Afterwards, zero in on the Silvermane Lieutenant.
  • The Automaton Spider will likely take itself out of the equation with a self-destruct, sparing you the need to focus on it. Once it's out of play, the victory is yours!

What Are Exhibition Matches?

Upon beating March 7th and completing the Red Light Level, you'll gain access to Exhibition Matches. These special matches will provide you with a randomized opponent, allowing you to continue to test your mettle.

It’s recommended that you complete an Exhibition Match at least once, as it’ll unlock the achievement titled “We Are The Champion?” and also be the last mission you need to complete for the Warp Trotter Speech Bubble Prize in the Rating Rewards.
