Suicide Squad fans have spotted a mention of "branching paths" in the latest trailer for the game that has some hoping that they won't have to kill the Justice League.

Despite "Kill the Justice League" literally being the name of the next game in the Arkhamverse, a lot of fans have only just started clueing into the fact that Harley, Deadshot, Boomer, and King Shark are going to be permanently taking down a Justice League that has been taken over by Brainiac.

Although things aren't looking good for the team of heroes and it seems likely that at least a few of them are going to live up to the game's name, fans are hopeful that they'll be offered other choices when it comes to taking out the Justice League. In the latest Suicide Squad Insider, one section of gameplay shows off the pause menu, where an option for "Branching Story" can be spotted underneath the chapter name.

As suggested by Redditor ZoomZombie1119 on the Batman Arkham subreddit, "Branching Story" could potentially hint at there being more than one option to deal with the Justice League beyond killing them. They said, "The new SSKTJL trailer shows that there will be a "branching story", this could mean the game's story is choice-based, and we may possibly not have to kill our favorite heroes", getting a decent response from the subreddit in the process.

Although this is a nice idea that would certainly add some depth to the game's story, it does seem a little too good to actually be true. For starters, it seems like the sort of thing that Rocksteady would have already mentioned about the game in the lead-up to release. The previous Batman Arkham games have also never had big choices for the player to make, so it'd be a pretty big change for the studio.

It's also worth noting that a lot of Kill the Justice League's plot has been leaked already, with no indication that the player can make choices to affect the story.

It's also worth noting that the "Branching Story" was revealed in the same episode that Poison Ivy was confirmed to be in the game. Branching Story could well just be a pun on the fact that Ivy is known for her plant abilities, rather than an indication of Kill the Justice League having a decision-based story.
