According to several insiders, Xbox is planning to bring its biggest exclusive in years, Starfield, to PS5 at some point following the release of the Shattered Space expansion.
The past few months have been a bit of a strange time for Xbox. After purchasing Activision Blizzard for close to $69 billion towards the end of 2023, rumours have recently started flaring that several of the console's exclusives are going to be coming to other platforms. The rumours initially hinted at Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves no longer being Xbox exclusives, but they've snowballed over the past few days to the point where some insiders are claiming that almost anything is fair game.

PostsAnd by anything, we really mean anything. According to a report from XboxEra, one of Xbox's biggest exclusives in the last decade or so, Starfield, is going to be coming to PS5 and PC after the release of the Shattered Space expansion that currently doesn't have a release date but is expected at some point this year.
According to XboxEra's anonymous sources, Microsoft is also putting additional money into PS5 dev kits in order to support game development on that platform. XboxEra's sources also claim that Hi-Fi Rush is targeting the first quarter of 2024 for its release on other platforms, while an announcement of this change of strategy is happening at some point this month.
Although the rumours of Xbox's new strategy have been going wild over the past few weeks, it's worth remembering that it's not yet been confirmed, so take it with a grain of salt until it's announced.
Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves being brought to other consoles was already causing a ton of controversy among Xbox fans who felt like they were losing the main reason they'd bought the console in the first place, but Starfield is going to be another kettle of fish entirely, as one of the main marketing pushes for it was its Xbox exclusivity.
It seems that not everyone at Xbox is happy about the decision either, as XboxEra also reports that Microsoft's senior leadership have debated the pros and cons of releasing more of their exclusives on other consoles, with the decision to recoup money "left on the table" allegedly turning the tides.
