Starfield Fans Have Started Building Their Own Space Stations

Starfield has been in the hands of fans for quite a while now, giving the game's modding community ample time to start creating some pretty weird and wonderful creations. All the classic Bethesda game mods have already been added, like Thomas the Tank Engine, killable essential quest givers, and the expected quality of life patch that comes with all of the studio's releases on PC.
With all of those essentials out of the way, some pretty top tier features are being introduced by the modding community. One such modder called vexthecollector has even managed to give everyone the ability to build their own space stations, by allowing you to build outposts onto existing structures (thanks GamesRadar), and all it took was altering some existing code that had apparently been left in Starfield upon launch.

Big budgets and long development times don’t make a good game, unfortunately
PostsYou can find the mod itself on Nexus Mods, as vexthecollector explains that they simply fixed the existing code that had been left in Starfield to make customizable space stations a reality. They also include detailed instructions on how to actually build your own space station, as well as an FAQ page to explain the feature in even further details.
Unfortunately, the mod doesn't appear to be perfect, as many people who have attempted to build their own space station are reporting issues docking their ship once it's complete. The creator of the mod states that they're trying to get it fixed, but it appears to be an issue with "something deeper in the code" that they currently can't edit.
It's worth noting that the whole mod can be rather buggy and unpredictable, almost as if Bethesda tried to stop people accessing the feature for a reason.
Still, it's the best we're going to get until Bethesda gets around to actually giving us our own space station to control, which surely must either be something in the works or a scrapped concept. It's a pretty glaring oversight to give players the ability to make outposts but limit them to planets, and the fact that Bethesda has left code in the game that has allowed vexthecollector to make the feature a reality so easily suggests it was planned at some point.
If we do get buildable space stations in the future, fingers crossed that the mechanic is just as flexible and in-depth as the game's ship builder, which has seen fans create a whole range of wonderful spacefaring vessels. These range from incredibly cool recreations, such as the Ebon Hawk from Star Wars: KOTOR, to incredibly cursed ships that require you to have calves of steel just to get to the cockpit.
