In Starfield, certain gameplay elements enrich your journey with a personal touch, like the presence of your parents in New Atlantis. Even though you have to help them out with their high rent, there are some benefits to it. These two extra characters in the game interact with you, providing companionship and motivation, and they're genuinely invested in your success.

Your parents occasionally share advice, notes, and surprise visits at the Lodge. Their thoughtful gifts, including Gran-Gran's armor, hold unique significance. Visiting the Residential District is rewarding, making their involvement in your journey all the more special.
Where To Find Gran-Gran's Armor
You should have the Kid Stuff trait. Having thisperk grants several benefits, including the exclusive Grandpa's Meatloaf recipe, as well as Gran-Gran's armor set. On the third visit with your parents, speak to your mom.
This armor is exclusive to the Kid Stuff trait.
You'll know it's time to go visit when you return to the Lodge and Noel informs you that your mom sent a letter. Make your way to Pioneer Towers, head up the elevator, and stop in to see your parents. You'll want to talk to your mom.
When you do, she'll tell you that she was going through Gran-Gran's things and found her old Marine Spacesuit and Helmet from her adventurous days. While your mom has no use for the suit and helmet, she was hoping you might.
Respond however you'd like to receive Gran-Gran's Spacesuit and Gran-Gran's Helmet.
What Are The Benefits Of Gran-Gran's Armor
While not the best suit or helmet in the game, it does have sentimental value for role-play purposes, and it has decent stats. For Gran-Gran's Spacesuit, it has the following stats:

Gran-Gran's Spacesuit also has the Pocketed mod, which increases your total mass carry weight, much like the old backpack you can find in your bedroom at their apartment.
This is incredibly useful when collecting resources or looting enemies, as you can quickly exceed your mass early in-game.
In addition to Gran-Gran's Spacesuit, you'll also get a matching Space Helmet. The stats for it are as follows:

Additionally, Gran-Gran's Space Helmet comes with the Sensor Array mod, which increases the range for enemy detection on your compass. You'll be more prepared next time you're in the field, all thanks to Grandma.
Both items can be modded further to make them more suitable to your needs.
You have the option to sell Gran-Gran's armor to vendors for credits, but Mom might not quite like that.
