Stardew Valley’s Update 1.6 brought interesting additions to the beloved farming sim, including an exciting mechanic called Trinkets. There are eight different trinkets in Stardew Valley, of which seven are obtained from monster drops and breakable crates and barrels in the Mines, Skull Cavern, and Quarry Mine. The only exception is the Magic Hair Gel, which has an entirely different method of procurement. If you’re wondering how to get your hands on this magical trinket, keep reading.

How To Get The Magic Hair Gel

As mentioned above, the Magic Hair Gel trinket isn’t found by battling monsters or exploring mines. Instead, you can directly purchase it from Alex’s shop during the Desert Festival, which takes place in the Calico Desert on the 15th, 16th, and 17th of Spring every year.

The Magic Hair Gel costs 100 Calico Eggs, which is the exclusive currency of the Desert Festival. You can earn Calico Eggs by participating in various challenges and attractions throughout the event.

One of the best ways to get Calico Eggs is by placing bets in races that take place on the hour. If your chosen contestant wins, you will receive 120 Calico Eggs for the first win and 20 eggs per win after that. Keep in mind that these eggs disappear at the end of the festival, so spend them wisely.

The Magic Hair Gel cannot be reforged at the Anvil like other trinkets.

How To Use The Magic Hair Gel

Unlike other trinkets that offer combat-related benefits, the Magic Hair Gel is purely cosmetic. When equipped, it makes your farmer’s hair constantly glow with all the vibrant colors of a Prismatic Shard. It's a fun way to add a touch of flair to your farmer's appearance.

Since you can equip multiple trinkets at once, there’s no need to worry about having to replace the Magic Hair Gel with a more practical trinket.

The Magic Hair Gel doesn’t really make a good gift for anyone, as the majority of the villagers dislike it. The only exception is the Wizard, who likes receiving all Trinkets as a gift.
