Capcom has struck gold with the Resident Evil 4 remake, with the new game shifting millions of copies at a rapid pace. Receiving mostly critical praise, the game has generated much discussion too, with debate over how Capcom has remade the original and where the developers made changes.

Much discussion fell on Salazar, one of the game's primary antagonists. It's not surprising considering how much the design of this signicant character has changed, going from a creepy looking child to a Margaret Thatcher look-a-like. Another thing players noticed, especially those who remember the much-lauded original, is that Salazar's hat has gone missing.

In the original, Salazar sported a tricorn (three-cornered) hat. This style of hat was popular during the late 17th century going into the 18th century. While associated with pirates, the tricorn was commonly worn both by civilians as well as those serving in the navy. Worn by pirates and those employed by the British Royal Navy and Spanish Armada, Salazar wore one in the original Resident Evil 4. Possibly indicating how much of a throwack Salazar is and his old roots, the hat was a notable part of his costume in the original.

But in the remake Salazar does not have his tricorn hat and there will be players who miss it. For those who do, one modder has come to the rescue. The name of the mod gets to the point – "Salazar gets his hat back" – while it's proving surprisingly popular, having been downloaded nearly 2,000 times since it was uploaded just a few days ago.

"Hello, small mod this time and more of a novelty but I figured it would please some OG fans," wrote the mod's creator kira5z. "Mod is as simple as they come, it gives Salazar the hat he had during the OG RE4".

Those interested in giving Salazar his original hat back can check out the mod over at Nexus Mods here. As for beating this boss, players have also been discovering tricks, as this shortcut shows.
