Wild to think it's almost been an entire year since the launch of Resident Evil 4's remake. It's even wilder to think that some people still haven't played it. That's entirely possible considering how jam-packed a year it was for big video games in 2023, but if you have been holding off on playing Resident Evil 4, now's the time to take the plunge. Capcom has announced a Gold Edition of its critically-acclaimed remake, and it'll be here by this time next week.

Despite Capcom confirming the Gold Edition will be available from February 9, 2024, it hasn't revealed how much the complete edition of the remake is going to cost. It's probably safe to assume it will be a full price $70 though, and potentially a little cheaper on last-gen consoles. As for what it will include, on top of the base game, the Gold Edition comes with Ada Wong's Separate Ways DLC, as well as an extra DLC pack which includes weapons, outfits, and other gear previously locked to Resident Evil 4's deluxe edition.

That means starting next week, if you don't already own Resident Evil 4, you'll be able to buy everything you need to enjoy the entire experience in one neat package. Or if you love the game as much as I know some people do, you can buy the game again and play through it a few more times. It might well be the best Resident Evil game ever made, so I'm sure there will be a lot of people who want to own its Gold Edition even if they already have the base game plus all of the extras that come with the new version launching next week.

Capcom has hit it out of the park with its first three RE Engine remakes, arguably improving with each installment. What's next from the studio on the remake front remains a mystery, though. It might seem like the obvious next step is a Resident Evil 5 remake, but rebuilding that game from the ground up might be a taller order than it has been with the previous three games. Remaking Code Veronica next appears to be a popular choice with fans, or Capcom might go back to the beginning and remake the first Resident Evil again.

Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition will launch on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC on February 9, 2024, and will be available on last-gen and current-gen consoles. Launching it when the video game release slate is about to ramp back up again is a bold choice by Capcom, but considering the loyal following Resident Evil 4 has, I'm sure it'll do just fine.
