The first set to feature a group of Pokemon directly influenced by a central Pokemon, Arceus, Pokemon Pocket Triumphant Light introduces abilities that allow players to combine Pokemon of different types in Pokemon Pocket more easily.

Arceus descends in Pokemon TCG Pocket's Triumphant Light.
PostsNot every ability in Triumphant Light is related to Arceus, but most focus on bonus damage in the Active Spot or significantly reducing retreat costs. Agility and flexibility play a major role in the meta established by Triumphant Light. Mastering its abilities can lead to fast decks that build up sneaky damage quickly.
10 Heatran And Rotom
CloseAbility Name
Speed Link
Synergizes with
Arceus, Arceus ex, Crobat, Infernape ex
Despite being different types, Heatran and Rotom share the same effect and can work together in decks. Both have zero retreat cost, allowing Heatran to hit hard and retreat when needed, while Rotom can snipe low-HP targets on your opponent’s bench.
Neither Pokemon is strong enough to build a deck around, but they pair well with other zero-cost Pokemon like Infernape ex. The excess energy can then be used to power up Arceus or Arceus ex.
9 Crobat
Ability Name
Cunning Link
Synergizes with
Darkrai ex, Weavile ex, Arceus, Arceus ex
With its low attack cost and free retreat, Crobat seems like the perfect complement to energy-hungry Pokemon like Darkrai ex and Arceus ex. It can hit for 80 damage as long as Arceus is on the field, but as a Stage 2, it struggles to overwhelm opponents early in the game.
While the 30 bonus damage is significant, Crobat ultimately competes with Greninja for a spot. Greninja can’t attack in Dark decks since it is a Water-type, but it can apply 20 damage to any Pokemon of choice.
8 Magnezone
Ability Name
Resilience Link
Synergizes with
Adaman, Arceus, Arceus ex,
Damage reduction is the specialty of Metal types, and Magnezone stands out in Triumphant Light by mitigating 30 damage while boasting high HP for a one-point Pokemon, making it one of the most durable options in the set. However, Magnezone’s major drawback is its reliance on three specific cards: Magnemite, Magneton, and Arceus (or Arceus ex).
Its earlier forms in Triumphant Light aren’t as strong as previous versions, such as Genetic Apex Magneton. Additionally, since Magnezone requires two Metal energy to attack, it doesn’t transition into offense as smoothly as Space-Time Smackdown Magnezone.
7 Carnivine
Ability Name
Power Link
Synergizes with
Arceus, Arceus ex, Erika ,Exeggutor ex
One of the better cards that synergize with Arceus and Arceus ex, Carnivine is essentially a one-energy Pokemon that deals 50 damage. If you manage to draw both Arceus and Carnivine in your starting hand, you can put your opponent in a heavily compromised position, as 50 damage is enough to one-shot many Basic Pokemon.

As long as Arceus is in play, all these Pokemon TCG Pocket cards get powerful abilities.
PostsWithout Arceus, however, Carnivine is a fairly generic Basic Pokemon. Since it does not evolve, its only role is as an early-game bully, making it even more dependent on Arceus and Arceus ex than other Arceus support Pokemon.
6 Glaceon ex
Ability Name
Snowy Terrain
Synergizes with
Manaphy, Iridia, Mythical Island Vaporeon
Passive damage shouldn’t be underestimated. Glaceon ex deals ten automatic damage every turn just by being in the Active Spot. This adds up to 20 total damage by the time it attacks, effectively making it a Pokemon that deals 110 damage for three energy.
Unfortunately, since this damage comes from an ability rather than an attack, Glaceon ex doesn’t get its typing advantage against troublesome Fire Pokemon like Infernape ex, Charizard ex, and Moltres ex. It also struggles to stand out from Starmie ex, which deals only 20 less damage but for one less energy.
5 Unown
Ability Name
Check
Synergizes with
Red Card, Mars, Mixed Energy Decks
Vision cards can be a useful tool in Pokemon Pocket, but they come with the opportunity cost of not directly affecting the current game state. Unown stands out because it not only helps you see your upcoming draws but also gives you a glimpse into your opponent’s strategy.
What makes Unown’s ability so strong is that it works from the bench. It functions more like a Trainer card than a traditional Pokemon in terms of utility. Considering that in Pokemon Pocket you have no way of knowing what cards are in your opponent’s deck, Unown seems like an incredible utility card.
4 Tyranitar
Ability Name
Power Link
Synergizes with
Marshadow, Arceus, Arceus ex
Similar to other Stage 2 Fighting Pokemon like Golem, Tyranitar has incredibly high stats but requires a significant amount of energy for both attacking and retreating. Its 160-damage attack is massive, and previous Pokemon cards that deal 150 damage or more, like GA Golem, usually have drawbacks, such as taking 50 damage themselves. As long as Arceus or Arceus ex is on the field, Tyranitar is a serious threat. High-HP Pokemon like the Legendary Birds, Palkia ex, and Dialga ex struggle to withstand its power.

Which ex Pokemon truly shine in this set? Let's find out.
Posts 1Tyranitar is also tanky enough to likely get two attacks off, making it a formidable boss monster. Since it only costs one point, it can be paired with revenge hitters like Marshadow or even Arceus itself to finish off an opponent after they’ve exhausted their resources taking Tyranitar down.
3 Arceus ex
Ability Name
Fabled Luster
Synergizes with
Dialga ex, Carnivine, Crobat,
At the center of many card effects, Arceus ex has a solid ability of its own. It is immune to common Special Conditions like sleep, confusion, and poison. While the Special Conditions meta shifts frequently, there will always be sets where the strongest cards apply status effects to their opponents.
Since Arceus ex can deal significant damage, its immunity to Special Conditions makes it a nightmare matchup for cards like Wigglytuff ex and Mismagius ex. Special Condition-based cards typically have lower stats to compensate for their effects, leaving them with little counterplay against Arceus ex.
2 Leafeon ex
Ability Name
Forest Breath
Synergizes with
Erika, Giant Cape, Exeggutor ex
Without its effect, Leafeon ex would be a rather underwhelming Pokemon, as 70 damage for three energy is only viable on Basic Pokemon. However, Leafeon ex is one of the best ex's in Triumphant Light as it serves as its own energy accelerator, allowing it to build an extra energy every turn. This effectively makes it a Pokemon that deals 70 damage for just two energy.
Leafeon ex’s HP is also respectable, especially when paired with Giant Cape, allowing it to survive long enough to deal 140 damage over two turns. Thanks to its ability, Grass decks gain a fast and hard-hitting option as Leafeon ex.
1 Shayin
Ability Name
Sky Support
Synergizes with
Dialga ex, Palkia ex, Arceus ex, Dawn
The bench is the ideal place for a Pokemon with a strong ability, and Shaymin is one of the best support options in Pokemon Pocket. As a Basic Pokemon, it avoids the need for inefficient evolutionary lines. Its Colorless typing also means that, if necessary, it can chip in for 30 damage. Additionally, its ability works on Pokemon of any type, making it a consideration for nearly every deck.
Resource management is the most important skill in Pokemon Pocket, and retreating often separates great players from good ones. Shaymin enhances flexibility for any deck, making it a valuable asset.
