Flying Pokemon have been a staple of the Pokemon series for a while, but many with the type don't actually fly around in the sky. With newer games in the franchise, many Pokemon can now be seen flying around the overworld. This holds true in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, where you can find several Pokemon that are just out of reach.

In this guide, we are going to take a look at how you can catch flying Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. In total, there are only eight that will actually fly through the sky, so we will go over each location in the region as well. First, let's take a look at the best ball to use while catching flying Pokemon.
How To Get Feather Balls
Overall, using a Feather Ball is the best way to catch flying Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. This is a very light ball that will fly in a straight line, perfect for aiming at the sky. Unlike the regular Poke Ball, this one will take longer to arc back down to the ground.
There are three tiers of this Poke Ball, with each one flying a little farther. Below, you can check out the Poke Ball tier, as well as the price and crafting recipe.

Boosted Catch Rates
If you use any of the three balls to catch a flying Pokemon, then the catch rate will be boosted. A normal Pokeball has a catch rate of .75, while a Feather Ball has a catch rate of .5 when not catching a flying Pokemon. If you do use a Feather Ball on a flying Pokemon, then the catch rate is increased to 1.25, which is quite a large increase.
Using a Jet Ball against a flying Pokemon will increase the catch rate to a whopping 2.75, making it the best choice.
How To Catch A Flying Pokemon
As mentioned above, there are eight flying Pokemon that you can catch, which are listed below.
- Crobat
- Gyarados
- Hisuian Braviary
- Honchkrow
- Magnezone
- Staraptor
- Togekiss
- Togetic
These flying Pokemon have flight patterns that you will need to pay attention to. For example, a Hisuian Braviary will not just hover in the same spot. More often than not, the Braviary will fly in a loop that can be tracked.
Before throwing a Feather Ball, watch the way the Pokemon in question flies. The ball will take some time to reach the Pokemon, especially if they are further away. You will want to anticipate the Pokemon's movement and aim slightly ahead of where they currently are.
When doing this, the ball will fly through the air and hit the Pokemon when they cross its path. Of course, this does not guarantee capture, so it's important to have other balls ready to throw immediately.
Crobat
- Location: Alabaster Icelands
Crobat flies high in the Icebound Falls region of the Alabaster Icelands. To reach this peak, you will need to have Sneasler unlocked. With this Pokemon, you can easily scale the cliff and catch Crobat.
Gyarados
- Location: Obsidian Fieldlands
Gyarados can be found flying near a waterfall. From the higher points in the area, you can see the massive Pokemon floating through the sky.
Hisuian Braviary
- Location: Alabaster Icelands
Hisuian Braviary can be spotted from the roof of Snowpoint Temple. After visiting the temple, you can climb up to the top and see this local variation of Braviary flying in a loop through the sky.
Honchkrow
- Location: Cobalt Coastlands
Honchkrow can only be caught during the evening, which means that during the day, you won't find this Pokemon flying in the Cobalt Coastlands. When it is night, simply, head to the location marked on the map, near Bather's Lagoon.
Magnezone
- Location: Coronet Highlands
Magnezone can be found in two spots within the Coronet Highlands. In both locations, the Pokemon flies around the edge of steep cliffs. If you have the Braviary mount, you can teleport to a more northern location and then glide to the two spots on the map. If not, you can also scale the cliffs with Sneasel.
Staraptor
- Location: Obsidian Fieldlands
Staraptor also has two locations; one in Obsidian Fieldlands and one in the Cobalt Coastlands. Of the two, the Obsidian Fieldlands location is easier to reach.
From the eastern-facing cliff of Nature's Pantry, you can see this giant bird flying around.
Togekiss
- Location: Obsidian Fieldlands
Once again, we have another Pokemon that is found in the Obsidian Fieldlands. Just south of Lake Verity, you can find Togekiss flying relatively close to the ground.
Togetic
- Location: Crimson Mirelands
Lastly, we have Togetic. Both locations where you can find Togetic are within the Crimson Mirelands. Head to either of these spots marked on the map, get to a higher elevation, and you will see a Togetic.
